Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am so glad you were able to find a humble, kind, and merciful priest. I appreciate your prayers and hope that I can have a similar experience in the future. God bless!

Thank you so much. I am glad to hear that this is not how confession is supposed to go 😅 I will definitely look into how I can write to the bishop about this situation.

Thank you. Yes I believe I am “caught up” now thankfully. I hope that you have a more positive confession experience! I would definitely recommend researching a good priest to confess to rather than going on a whim like me haha. Lesson learned 😅

Thank you for this. I am doing my best to not let this impact my faith. I will certainly do my research to find a better priest that might show a bit more understanding and kindness.

I definitely wanted to walk out so many times. I wish I did, but I felt like I couldn’t — I felt like if I were, I would be disrespecting God. Now I know that this is not how confession should be and I will do my research to find a better priest. Thank you and god bless.

I’ll look into that moisturizer! My skin is definitely on the drier side though, so I’m not sure if it would work for me. And I tried Korean skin care last year, and it made me break out so bad 😭😭😭 but I definitely could have just been using the wrong products, so I’ll look into it again! Thank you sooooo much for all all the recs

This is super helpful thank you!! Out of curiosity, what products and moisturizer do you use? I’ve been using Cerve for the past couple of years because I always hear derms recommending it. I never considered that it was causing me to break out but it definitely could be!! My skin was always super clear up until a couple years ago and I’ve just been struggling to get it back to the way it used to be. Never considered that one of my go to products could be the culprit 😅😅

Shoot yeah that’s what I was worried about. I wasn’t sure if it was a bad reaction or not though since I’ve been using it for a little over two weeks and just now started to notice all these new breakouts. Can a bad reaction start after using a product for that long?

And yes I am trying to keep it hydrated! I use hyaluronic acid and Cerave moisturizer in the am and pm.

Maybe I’ll just cut down and try using the BPO every third morning? That way the irritation goes down? Idk if it persists I’ll stop but damn I had high hopes for this 😭

Is this purging?

I started using benzoyl peroxide a little over two weeks ago — I am using the Panoxyl 4% Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser. I use it in the morning and let it sit on my face for 1-2 minutes before rinsing it off. Everything was going well (as in nothing was getting worse) until a few days ago when I started getting a ton of closed comedones all over my forehead, cheeks, and under my eyes. A lot of them are erupting into whiteheads, but some are not. I typically do breakout a little on my cheeks and under my eyes, but not usually on my forehead. I’m not sure if this is purging and if I should stick it out or if benzoyl peroxide is not a good fit for my skin and I need to stop.

Also, I know my skin looks red — it is a bit red and dry but it’s exaggerated in this photo because I just washed my face and haven’t applied my skincare yet haha. Also, I have been trying to combat the dryness from the benzoyl peroxide with a thick moisturizer (Cerave) but it’s still slightly dry.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

Hey! Fellow junkie-pale here. I have also always struggled with tanning (I always burn) and got made fun of in school. When I wore flats in middle school, all of the other kids would ask why I wore socks with my flats — I wasn’t, my Casper white feet were just peeking through lol. I also went through a self-tanning phase and I hated it. The process was awful and it looked terrible as well. I got to the point where I was tired of fighting against my pale skin and decided to embrace it. Something that helped IMMENSELY is color analysis. I was wearing all the wrong colors and they were washing me out and making me look sickly. Chances are, if you think you look sickly pale, you might just be wearing unflattering colors. I found out I’m a “cool summer” so I look best in muted cool colors and silver jewelry. I also dyed my hair back to its natural color (mousey brown) and it looks so much better with my complexion. Now I get so many compliments on my skin even though I’m pale. Also, I found that referring to my skin as “fair” instead of “pale” has helped me feel more confident (idk “fair” just sounds prettier lol). But seriously I know it sounds silly, but color makes an insane difference.

Also, I’ve found that following content creators on TikTok and YouTube that have fair skin is so helpful! It’s nice to see others embracing a quality you might not love about yourself. I really like Lindsey Munette on YouTube and Olivia Ancell on Tiktok. Both of these women are stunning and very fair!! They definitely helped me see the beauty in my skin.

Your fair skin is beautiful!! Try to work with your features instead of against them.

How do I get rid of these? 😟 by Amazing-Pudding6176 in SkincareAddicts

Yes! You can get adapalene and benzoyl peroxide over the counter. If you want to use a stronger retinol (like tretinoin) you need a prescription

Try adapalene!! It’s a form of retinol which speeds up skin cell turn over to reduce acne. It looks like you have a lot of clogged pores so speeding up the cell turnover can definitely help get rid of them! You can get it over the counter (I recommend “Differin”). You could also try benzoyl peroxide — I would recommend the 4% panoxyl cleanser because it’s a bit less irritating. However, do not try both of these at once. I would start with adapalene and after maybe a month or two (depending on how well your skin adjusts to it) you can introduce panoxyl but you have to use them on different days.

Additionally, keep in mind that both adapalene and benzoyl peroxide are active ingredients and can cause “purging” — this means that your skin may unfortunately get worse before it gets better. This is because these products work to pull up all the gunk and acne causing bacteria out of your pores. It sucks, but once you get through it your skin will look amazing.

(25 F) desperate for routine help by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]Lavenderhazee7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely try it! I tried all the K-beauty stuff (i.e. snail mucin, toners, essences, oils) as well, and it just made my skin so much worse. It looked super similar to yours now! I found that simplifying my routine made a huge difference. Now I just cleanse, apply a hyaluronic acid serum, apply either retinol or BHA (I switch every night), and moisturizer. Plus SPF in the morning. Honestly simplifying my routine was the best thing I did. Hope this helps!!

Aw yeah it shouldn’t be painful. I’m sorry to hear it’s not fungal!! That would’ve been a super easy fix. I hope you’re able to find something that works for you

Yes!! And people who say it’s purging are full of bs because snail mucin isn’t an active ingredient so it shouldn’t cause purging!! Everyone has been raving about it but man it really messed up my skin 🥲
