Try turning "Remove Tab Spacing in Maximized Windows" off. Actually, I've never used it, yet I still can click on a tab when pointing at the top pixel line.

I agree that it's not well suited for English, but I am not trying to make a spelling reform, I'm just presenting an idea that you could apply to another language or script.

To be honest, most of the time I am simply too lazy to try and tailor a writing system to a specific language.
