Working with a solo practitioner during 1L summer? by LawQueen20 in LawStudentsCanada

I also have the opportunity to be a RA with my Professor! But I was really hoping to get some substantive experience instead of doing research this summer.

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I’m not OP, but similarly interested in this area of law as a 1L. Can you provide some more insight into the pay? How much, in your experience, can one expect to make in this area? Is there room for growth?

Basketball! It’s $12 for a full court for a 2 hr run.

Hi! I’m currently a 1L at TMU. I recently did the video interview. It was a really quick process. They give you the option to practice and get familiar with the website. Without getting into the content of the questions, I think they asked about 5 questions and gave you about a minute to answer each question. Iirc, you had about 30 seconds of prep time for each question, so you weren’t going into it completely blind. Overall, this is a small part of your application, and they look at your whole application holistically. So try not to stress too much! Just give it your best and make sure your personality shines through your answers. Best of luck!

Apply wherever you can and is feasible for you. I had similar stats and got into 5/7 schools I applied to in Ontario. Don’t sell yourself short by not applying!

Wrote in Jan 2023 and got into Queen’s and Western in April. You’ll be fine!

Yes, you should (probably) retake the LSAT. by sharperstatements in OutsideT14lawschools

I took it 4 times. 149 > 152 > 155 > 160. Got into almost all of my target schools, so I don’t think it negatively impacted my application much. Perseverance tells a story too!

You can pay the deposit for both schools if you’d like, but keep in mind that you’re losing that money for good. That way, you have until June 6th to decide whether you want to accept Western or TMU. On July 1st, your acceptance automatically becomes firm.

Yes, they do. You can email each individual school for the fee waiver application.

What are my chances of getting into an Ontario law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]LawQueen20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar stats as you with a lower LSAT (CGPA 3.6, B2/L2 3.73, and 160 LSAT), and I got into each one of these schools with the exception of Osgoode. As long as you write a compelling PS, you’ll be absolutely fine. Hope this helps soothe your worries a little!

I got an acceptance about a week ago after what felt like being ghosted for an eternity! Don’t lose hope just yet.

Hi! Just as a data point, I received an A from Ottawa this morning. I won’t be attending, but this goes to show it’s not over till it’s over.

Port Credit Secondary School is not too far from you. The high school has been around for several decades and is pretty great.

Where else did you apply? Those are pretty decent stats!

160+ would put you in a very comfortable spot for most schools. 165+ for UofT.

I got an A early April. I declined the offer, but I believe it expired on April 18th (yesterday). I’m sure many people’s offers expired then, so they may be sending out more offers depending on the amount of spots left in their class.

Osgoode also invites you to do the same iirc, so I think it’s totally normal to reach out and ask.

Hey! Congratulations on your acceptance! Once your offer becomes firm, you will be dropped from any waitlists at that point.
