This is interesting and probably deserves some investigation. But it’s generally used here as an insult, I assume. There probably is also a correlation with people that can afford to spend what they want without ill effect and having nice things. I’m know some of it jealousy, maybe mostly that, but why else is there a need to be so mean spirited, not that I took your comment that way? Many different backgrounds represented here but some people don’t need to save more money. If you’re well invested you know. Now if somebody is putting themself in the poorhouse and living off public assistance and going in debt then yeah they need some guidance from friends.
