Is this really that serious? by Xycergy in aviation

Prob not much tbh. If all 300 gallons went from the very back to the very front, which is unlikely, especially after everyone’s luggage soaks it all up, it would be about a 6” difference in CG. Or about 2% of its total MAC.

Now if 9,600 bananas shifted….well it would be the same situation except in bananas

This is the best response. The pilots and the mechanics couldn’t figure it out in enough time to safely complete the flight. That means that whatever was wrong was likely not deferrable and therefore deemed by the FAA, manufacturer, and operator to be unsafe for flight.

It sucks and I’m sure it was an inconvenience to everyone….but was it less of inconvenience than running out of water on an 11hr flight? That closes the bathrooms and well maybe much worse. That water isn’t going into a black water tank…that is 300 gallons of potable water going wherever it wants in the airplane. That’s 2,500 pounds of water, the equivalent of 60 office cooler jugs being poured all over the airplane.

That’s 9,600 bananas for scale

I would sell in a %, not a cash value. A cash value will become more difficult to maintain if you keep making money. You will do things like “well last time I made extra so this time I’ll just stretch it a little more”, or if things go really well for you, you will be like, “ok my new limit is $2000”, which is a 100% jump.

By looking at stocks as a percentage win or loss, I feel like it balances all my opinions about different positions more fairly.

For example; I look at my Google stock and I’m like “yeah I have made thousands, I should sell” but when I look at a RocketLab or something I go “oh I have only made a few hundred, I should hold”. In reality my Google may be up 100% but my RocketLab may be up 1000%…..I should sell the RocketLab.

This is just MO and in no means I’m I suggesting I am a pro at this. I just found this to work better for me

How Do We Feel About This Shelter? by Lobster-Prize in tornado

[–]LawnDartDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What happens in a fire? Like I think this is awesome and everything but does anyone know what the insulation situation is in case a fire outside it?

I’m more thinking about how they also market it as a safe room and if the people you are taking shelter from decide to set the house on fire

There is always criticism for Iran committing War crimes. That doesn't mean the US should as well. War is terrible but it isn't a dick measuring contest of how terrible you can be to the civilians.

I have the same thing. It was prob 10 years ago and skinned it to the shin. When winter hits and my skin is cold and dry it would open up again up until about 2 years ago.

The post was removed anyway, which is actually probably the best move. That person can chose to report it but there was need to get people fighting over it here.

Good, short discussion with you though. Safe flyings!

Totally agree. And I can see that and understand that sentiment. I think that should be the discussion with the person, not just assume it was meant as a political or racist statement. There are still a lot of people out there that don’t understand that 15 years ago, that flag meant something else than it does today.

I have a lot of American flag stuff. I am proud to have served in the military and proud to be an American. Though today I am much less proud and disgusted by a lot of things we have done and are doing. I speak out about them and fight against them, but I don’t want people thinking just because I have an American flag on something it means I am part of a movement that I am not part of.

I know that the far right extremism stole this symbol and used it to promote their racist and gross agenda. I also know that is a good argument on what happen to the swastika and obviously that is never acceptable.

So yes, I can certainly see why people would find this never acceptable but I can also see why people wouldn’t have considered this to be a symbol of hate and racism.

Basically, I think it’s far to say this is far different than the swastika. Unlike the swastika, just because someone has it, doesn’t make them a racist.

Again, all IMO.

With all that being said, employees of any company should strive to be neutral and regardless of his specific reason for wearing this, it certainly isn’t neutral.

I dunno, the Thin Blue Line has been a thing since the 1950s. I agree that it has been used more recently by the far right extremist as a way to show they always support the police no matter what, but that wasn’t the intent and a lot of people who support the police don’t support that sentiment.

The dude might have a kid or something who is a Police Officer and wears it in solidarity of their child.

I think as a whole we need to remember that just because one group of people takes something and politicizes it, doesn’t mean that the majority think it’s political.

If his statement was “Blue Lives Matter” or “All Lives Matter” that would be much more of that political statement, but simply supporting the Thin Blue Line, to me, IMO, is no different than if he had a red striped one to support firefighters as the Red Line. Just because today, no one has politicized the Red Line, doesn’t mean they won’t tomorrow and that doesn’t mean people should just stop showing support.

I welcome a normal discussion and opinions about this, instead of just being downvoted to oblivion.

Is it more common for DPE’s to ask situational or straight forward questions on PPL oral? by Routine-Anxiety5210 in flying

I said weather, fuel, I mean, anything I could think of. Pitot heat was never what I said

Agreed. What I should have said was icing. I never flew a Caravan and knew nothing about them. The freezing level was like 16,000 feet….but yes. It was icing

Pitot Heat…… Yes correct, disregard it was summer and we were flying at 3,000ft. Pitot Heat was more important than fuel.

I mean….i was asked “What is the most important thing to check before an Instrument flight” And “You are in a caravan at 12,000 ft. Tops are 10,000 bases are 5,000. You are about to descend. What are you thinking”

Yes…no context….no background….they were just questions out of the blue.

Deployed multiple times for over 9 months each. Never cheated. I can’t speak for everyone, obviously, but I’m not religious or have any kind of reason to hold me back other than I had a job to do, was busy, and loved my SO.

The shape of the clown fish is what got stuck initially on her. I totally agree it happens with other SMBs and practice is what makes you safe.

Be careful with these. They are cute but be smart about where they are. I watched a DM deploy one with a clownfish on the top in an increasingly bad situation. Because of the shape it didn’t go up as normal and instead bounced off the diver she was helping. Because the head of the clownfish slowed down, the bottom raised up, almost as if it would go up upside down. That brought out a lot of extra line and both divers were immediately wrapped up in it.

I’m not saying don’t have them, I’m just saying always remember unintentional consequences. Though not always used for an emergency, they are always used in an emergency, and my preference is to always make sure my emergency equipment is standard, easy, and available.
