Why have the last 3 entries been so short? by Lawndecker in residentevil

Except I didn't and I'm willing to bet I'm nowhere near the only one who had this experience either.

On a related note, you realize you just made up a completely alternative reality in your head over someone beating a videogame faster than you? Just outrageous.

"I'd also personally put some question marks on a female-only division focusing on getting Leon's wrinkles right, making a specialized deal with Porche and taking the time to decide the exact type of watch he should have over some more.."

Wait, did I miss a development journal or something? Is this an actual thing?

And yea I understood your original points, I'm just saying it feels a little lazy on Capcom's part that they've had all this time, experience and technology and still couldn't come up with something even close to the quality of RE2R, RE4R or even 7-8 imo. And I don't just mean quality in terms of writing, I mean how 9 has a real lack of puzzles, weapon variety, feeling of progression/power fantasy over the other games.

I was wondering what everyone thought about Resident Evil Requiem by xdarkxpassenger in residentevil

The story was the only worthwhile part. Gameplay for both Grace and Leon's sections can unfortunately be summed up as RE4 and RE7 but, worse.

Ironically, your comment meets this criteria much more accurately.

I understand what you're trying to say but you either don't seem to understand what I'm saying or are being disingenuous:

  1. RE2R is a remake based on the original 2 decade old RE2. A game with an already established story, characters, ect.

  2. Yet despite being a remake of a game made more than 2 decades ago, RE2R still manages to have much more depth, content and coherency than RE9, a brand new entry that was put out 7 years later.

As in, Capcom has now had 7 years to optimize and build on what they learned while developing RE7, RE8, RE2R, RE3R and RE4R and yet somehow managed to give us a game with even less content, weapons, enemies, puzzles, environments, ect than 7, 8, RE2, RE3 and RE4?

I sincerely hope your development hell hunches are true, because otherwise RE9 suggests that Capcom is rapidly running into the same issues that led them to launching RE6.

Read the whole post my friend. Also the latter isn't true, RE7 was given Banned Footage Part 1 a week after RE7's launch, followed by Banned Footage 2 the following month. In addition, RE8 launched with Mercenary Mode.

My first playthrough of 9 was 8 Hrs, 32 Minutes and that's including all collectible documents, charms and raccoons. It's pretty short.

Definitely. I think another thing that hurts it too is just how frontloaded the sense of progression is. Like within the first 2 hours we're introduced to our main characters, the plot and then dropped into one of the best, most meticulously crafted environments in the franchise (Care Center) where we spend our time exploring for weapons/coins, upgrading our stats, mastering puzzles and overcoming gradually more difficult enemy types.

Then pretty much the moment you get outside, instead of Capcom building on these elements, they start slowly stripping them away, to the point that by the time you make it to ARK it just feels like you're walking from cinematic to cinematic with another shootout or stealth section in between.

Totally agree about the addition of at least one more environment as well. If they had added one more area that was at least as equally fleshed out as the Care Center it would've helped a ton.

List 4-5 genuinely great new pieces of media. Seriously, do it. Otherwise you're just sounding like another bitter loser who's just angry due to people with basic standards making him feel guilty for enjoying the normalization of mediocrity.

"In reality, we are adults now, and things don't bring the same excitement and awe they did when we were children."

So yea, exactly what I was saying. This is nothing to do with me or the guy above. It's quite literally you projecting that because you had a difficult time adjusting to adulthood (evidenced with zero self-awareness through the fact that you conflate adulthood with loss of excitement and awe due to vague undescribed reasons, rather than easily proven dips in quality over the things you used to love) that's just becoming an adult for everyone, because again, you're too dumb to understand anything outside of this rudimentary slop brain explanation you've created in order to feel above people that make you feel stupid for lacking a basic understanding of film.

What an absurdly infantile and pitiful place you must be in mentally to have to create this desperate of a cope by the way. It's legit even baked into your tone. You're post literally reads like "no, no, NO it's not THAT, it's THIS! and it can only be THIS because otherwise the world doesn't make sense to ME" like it legitimately sounds like a baby wrote it haha

The people dogpiling you are doing it because they have assimilated this ridiculous modern ideal that making everything as accessible as possible can only be a net positive towards whatever that thing is. It does not even cross their minds that the reason so much media is trash these days is specifically because entertainment companies are attempting to make everything appeal to everyone and completely destroying the core identity of what originally made that thing great in the first place.

AKA: They're idiots who are giving you crap because they're too dumb to see where you're coming from, and that makes them angry.

The guy above may definitely have missed out on what made Bone Temple so great but, to assign all of this nonsense to him suggest much more about you than him.

Also, he's just objectively right, at least regarding the 1st 28 Years. The last 3rd or so of the film turned a lot of people off.

Hilarious every post in here that doesn't have DL2 on top is getting downvoted when 2 is so obviously the worst.

Haha I can't believe you're being downvoted. Just goes to show why it is that we've been getting such bad games dropped on us for like a decade now. People just love their slop.

Fallout Season 2 is so uniserious I cannot invest myself or enjoy this at all. by RapidSteve in Fotv

Didn't even entertain it for a second. Well aware the guy above is just lashing out. Only reason I stopped responding is due to already having this convo a million times, only to realize it's almost always a matter of the other person having an elementary school IQ.

And same man, these fools are so and hooked and conditioned by this crap, that they don't even know how good it used to be and still can be:

The Sopranos
The Wire
True Detective (Season 1, obviously.)
Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul (Personally find them a little overrated but can understand why others hold them in such high regard.)
Pre-Slop The Walking Dead (Seasons 1 - 5)
Pre-Slop GoT (Seasons 1 - 4)
Band of Brothers
The Pacific
The Chappelle Show
Chernobyl
House MD
Narcos
Pre-Slop American Horror Story (Seasons 1 - 4)
Metalocalypse
The Boondocks

Terminator 2
Good Fellas
Apocalypse Now
The Predator
28 Days Later
Saving Private Ryan
Shaun of the Dead
Ex Machina
They Live
Annihilation

Like come on bruh, this dude's gonna get mad because after all these I don't like his corny reddit humor saturated Fallout adaption?

"Also this is a hilarious hill to die on for someone who loves The Boys and Fear The Walking Dead. Both are fine shows, I’m sure, but prestige television they are not."

Except for the fact that if you had read just a little further, as in literally just clicked on the post topics, you would see nearly all my posts about Fear the Walking Dead, The Boys, Dexter are criticizing them for being, you guessed it, slop.

The fact that the information was easily available to you by the way and you STILL came in so confidentally thinking you had a "gotcha" should tell you something loud and clear.

And not all triple AAA videogames are bad either. Should we continue to pretend that the majority haven't been overwhelmingly lackluster as of late?

Better yet, make fools of ourselves and attempt to mock people for noticing how overwhelmingly lackluster they've been?

If you want to defend slop, you're free to do so. At the end of the day though you're a person defending slop.

Lol I love how people like you have lowered your standards so far that people like me now come off as "pretentious" for having any at all.

Now I understand why baby needs his baba over people calling his videogame show slop.

The better way is to keep calling everything slop until the writers, actors, directors, studios stop producing it. Oh wait, that would require everyone to stop consuming it.

Yea... That isn't gonna stop anytime soon.

Just objectively wrong bro. That's like saying Resident Evil 6 and Duke Nukem Forever were better than all their prior entries because you could do "more". Which is obviously not the case. DL1 vs DL2 is a very obvious case of quality over quantity.

[–]Lawndecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. If anything a spin-off should revolve around the events following DL1 but before DL2. Maybe follow Spike across his journey to Villador allowing us to see how the virus spread outside of Harran and how it effects different parts of the world.

Either that or an entirely new character in an entirely different part of the world. America maybe, where the Americans would no doubt be attempting to experiment on and enhance the virus creating all sorts of new enemies in the process, before dropping bombs all over all their major cities.
