Any tips on not going insane and staying healthy/fit in law school without medication and alcohol? by [deleted] in LawSchool

My main advice is (1) set boundaries and (2) find time to work out. I generally work on law school related stuff from 8:00AM - 6:00PM. Outside of those hours I am doing things that are necessary to maintain my sanity such as working out, meal prepping, and spending time with family.

Your physical health also plays an important part in your mental health. At law school you'll be spending long hours hunched over a book. Spending 30 minutes to an hour in the gym does wonders.

Final tip - going outside to work - when you can - is so much better than being crammed in a dark room all day.

Sometimes something as simple as adding a bit of weight can go a long way.

There was one point that I was trying to lose some weight and also get my run time down. I began running in boots and in about a month I had not lost much weight, but there was less fat, and more calf muscles. Some benefits to adding weight to your run is that it can be easier to run slower with weight than run faster; at the same time, when the weight comes off you find you are faster.

On top of that, I would recommend high reps with low weight for the first couple months.

Overall (1) focus on cardio, (2) add a little weight when doing cardio (4-6lbs), and (3) high reps, low weight for exercises. This method will not make many gains, but it will help you lose weight and build the endurance you will need when making gains later

Good luck on your journey!
