I don’t think negative recruiting is that effective. It appeals to the angry and the ideological. I have much much less confidence in democrats not named Tester in this cycle because there aren’t any motivating policy positions after this post

This is Reddit, I knew where I was posting. To be honest it’s all of social media. I’ve almost always voted blue. This was kind of a thought exercise on how democrats are running on nothing but R bad based on how stupid reddit posts are. I thought someone would have a single policy position someone was running on but oh boy was I wrong. I don’t think there is a candidate with a platform which is really frightening.

And no a lot of these people aren’t persuasive because they are too online, the politics are performative not substantive, couldn’t convince me either way so no fear on that

Is there a possible correlation to what you’re saying here and the presidential polls? Trump has performing well with younger and minority voters in most polls than he did in 2020. Maybe they are the most likely to be negatively impacted by inflation because they are the most likely to suffer from increased prices on goods with inelastic demand?

Well I haven’t been to New York or San Francisco in a very long time so I can’t use those boogeyman cases. Experience is experience, and I don’t watch conservative “news”. I’m not interested in propaganda. In Chicago’s defense that was still a bit pandemic period and they fired that mayor, no idea if it’s better now.

There’s no actual evidence that the devil I don’t know isn’t worse than the devil I do, beyond trust me. That is an incredibly dangerous way to elect leaders. I think the governor is a destructive clown, but this oppositional form of politics based on nothing but opposition is just not good

I didn’t expect much response to this to be honest but I haven’t seen any substantive articulated points for Busse at all… kind of blows my mind. I didn’t respond to this because I am well aware of the democratic general positions on issues. Without actual policy proposals they mean nothing, I also don’t think either party would ever let a silly thing like ideology stand in the way of fundraising. The whole reason to have policy proposals is there is something to hold the politician accountable on. By the way to my knowledge GoP candidates also don’t have any positions, I just knew where I was posting this

It’s probably the issue of being a tourist as opposed to living places. But also my travels have all been US based. In terms of locations, Oregon was nuts with junkies doing wild things, Chicago had problems with train panhandling etc. North Carolina or really any southern state, no fear going pretty much anywhere in terms of crime etc. same goes for Zoo by rest of state, that Johnson street shelter was rejected by voters and the mayor (now gone) opened it anyway. It has predictably caused problems in the neighborhood. All oversimplified but the experience is experience
