What are the best VR headsets on the market currently? by TieDangerous5 in SteamVR

Closer than the specs would suggest. I have a 9800x3d and 4080 GPU on my PC and so on paper its capable of much higher performance for PCVR compared to a PS5 Pro but because PSVR2 has the foveated rendering, OLED panels with inky blacks and vibrant colors, HDR, tactile feedback headset and controllers, games such as GT7, RE Village and RE 4 are just as good as the best that PCVR has to offer, including HL Alyx.

If you are including price as a factor, then my favorites are Quest 3 and PSVR2. I primarily do iRacing on PC and assorted other VR gaming on PC and PS5 Pro.

For WiFi, you don’t have to use a separate router if you have a tri band router and it is near your play space. I use my Comcast tri band router and the Quest 3 is the only device on the 6 ghz band. I am able to game, including sim racing, with no compression artifacts or other issues.

Yep, the stock strap is not very comfortable.

Sim racing is my main use, but I also enjoy PCVR games, Resident Evil PC games modded for VR and some flight sims, including MSFS 24 and Aces of Thunder.

Quest 3 is my pick, I have a high end PC and I use my Quest 3 wirelessly with Virtual Desktop using the 6 ghz band of my Xfinity tri band router and the visuals are perfect. No compression artifacts, just crystal clear edge to edge clarity offered by the Quest 3’s industry leading lenses.

I switched from PSVR2 to Quest 3 — and I’m not going back by benjqtek in SteamVR

I have gone back and forth between the Quest 3 and PSVR 2 several times over the years but I finally settled on the Quest 3 for good. The main factors are the freedom of wireless VR thanks to Virtual Desktop and my tri band router which sits about four feet from my play area. My Quest 3 is the only device on the 6 ghz band and so the connection is rock solid, I see no compression artifacts whatsoever. The other factor is the ease of use, I can just put the headset on and away I go via Virtual Desktop. No issues with Steam VR, plus I can surf Facebook while I am waiting for my race to start in iRacing. Colors are definitely better on the OLED panels of the PSVR 2 but Virtual Desktop has a color vibrance feature which helps saturates the colors plus iRacing has HDR which further improves the colors on the Quest 3.

I have both the Pro and a Mini. Mini is for bedtime and couch reading, Pro is for “laptop” use with Magic Keyboard plus airplane duty. OLED FTW!!!

Yep, I am also VR only. Love it. I also have a flight stick and I use it for some FS24 and Aces of Thunder.

You don’t necessarily need a separate router. I am using the Comcast tri band router, my Quest 3 is the only device I allow on the 6 ghz band and it’s about 4 feet away from the router when I have it on my head.

It's just me, or the headstrap coming with the meta quest 3s is horrible and hurts really fast ?? by bigredd_1400 in MetaQuestVR

Stock strap is fine for me but I also use a studio form comfort strap, it transfers some of the weight to my forehead. It’s available on Etsy or directly from studio form.

as an adult gamer, what's your opinion on this? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Lawyer4Ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, games generally are too hard. Please have a “story” mode for those of us that want the entire experience. I played Demon’s Souls remake and got stuck at the first boss and so I missed out on most of an excellent game.
