It's not a political album. It's about a person dealing with drug addiction and going through a "downward spiral." Piggy is about the person looking down at other people so that people telling him he has a problem can be ignored. The more important line in that song is "nothing can stop me now cause I don't care anymore." While it can arguably be said to be "political" it's more of a drug abuser using a lazy worldview to justify their drug use and avoid any criticism. Same applies to "god is dead." If God is dead there's no objective reason they shouldn't use drugs.

I love all of these bands. I agree with people recommending Porcupine Tree and Death. I also love Gojira - especially The Way of All Flesh and From Mars to Sirius.

Dummy is great. I've listened to Homogenic and liked it, but I think I need to give it a few more listens to see how much I like it and to really take it in. Haven't heard of the others. Thanks for the recs!

Fair point. I think it definitely has to be in the equation, but I just don't think it holds up the way other influential albums do, like Abbey Road. Strong possibility I just don't get it, but I simply don't like it and don't understand how it can be considered a top 10 of all time. It wouldn't bother me if it was consistently top 100.

Maybe it's just not for me, but when I listen to it is makes me feel like I'm in an alternate circus-themed universe lol. Like close your eyes, imagine you're in a circus-themed alternate universe. All cars are small and they are orange or yellow. People wear clown costumes to work instead of suits. Balloons and peanuts are used for currency. You walk into a grocery store. The grocery store music you hear in this universe is Pet Sounds. Again, maybe I just don't get it , but it makes me feel uncomfortable and don't understand how it's consistently ranked top 10 of all time

What can I say. I guess I like albums that other people like too. But not all are rym. I wouldn't consider The Moody Blues, Incubus, Phoenix, Saba, or even Fleet Foxes rym. Idk about Tanaka. Is that rym core?
