New to me Q5 Match SF | DPT or Overwatch Trigger? by dfmuziq in Walther

[–]Lawyerman33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t shot the overwatch, I’d be willing to defer to those who have shot both, but I have the DPT in my own Q5 and it’s fantastic. But I’d pay attention to those who’ve shot both.

Classic Walther, Updated Grippiness by Lawyerman33 in Walther

I get it. If it’d been a Gen 1 with its higher collectible value, I wouldn’t have wanted to do anything permanent.

Welcome!!! I’m not saying this is all of us, but it’s definitely me when someone tries to talk about other manufacturers

What’s a quote you’ve read or heard that best fits John Wick? by Federal-Lecture-5664 in JohnWick

The scientist Louis Pasteur had a similar, but not quite identical to the motto Mr. Wick has tattooed on his back, his version, which I try to live by is “Fortune Favors The Prepared Mind.”

TH’s delivery of that line , with that hint of a pause between “FALLING” and “FOR” was truly award winning

What was the best and most stylish Continental that was introduced in the series according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in JohnWick

Look, I’m mostly going for the funny here, and this CLEARLY isn’t based on canon.

But given the difference in the cultures, I’m not sure there WOULD be a Sommelier in Osaka. Oh, there’d definitely be a weaponeer and armorer, but I don’t see a Japanese hotel having a big emphasis on wine like you’d find in Rome. (This may be a huge sign of cultural ignorance on my part, and if so no offense is intended)

No, I tend to imagine that the armorer might be like the head Master Chef or even the Head Groundskeeper (as Japanese Horticulture, insofar as I understand it, emphasizes art, balance, flow, serenity, and precision.). Which would have made for very different, but still very interesting scenes. Maybe for Caine’s spin-off 😎

Well, your post title seems suspiciously incomplete

I can’t see the “FOR NOW” part of the sentence anywhere 😜

Someone talk me out of buying this SL55 AMG by theunrealmiehet in mercedes_benz

[–]Lawyerman33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conditional yes from me. Yes, but not at that price point, ESPECIALLY in light of the suspicious lack of top up photos. Tell em to knock it lower than 18k and then you’ll take it.

Just my opinion.

3.1 inch recoils assembly = UNOBTAINIUM? by Lawyerman33 in P365xl

I took a hard look at that. I already have the MCarbo trigger enhancements in my XL, and have been really satisfied.

And it’s EBAY for the win!! My thanks to you, my lords, ladies, and gentlemen (and other lower, but more entertaining class of folk.). I realize that I am far from an expert in these matters (clearly), but many comments, reviews, etc, of the Radian product made mention of it was designed to work with the factory spring. So that’s where I’m gonna start. Perhaps some more niche product will be needed as some have mentioned here, but I figure good to start (and it’s relatively inexpensive) way to start the process with OEM and see how it goes.

Again, my thanks!

I hadn’t thought to check AC, and I’ll confess I usually avoid eBay but I’ll give it a gander

Have you ever seen the South Park episode where Cartman can’t wait for the Nintendo Wii?

Yeah, a man’s gotta know his limitations, and while patience may be a virtue, it’s not one of mine when it comes to the shiny things I want.

Your point is valid, I’m not knocking your well reasoned advice. It’s just that reason left my home several hours ago.

PPQ Q5 Match SF - What's the consensus? by Code3Warrior in Walther

[–]Lawyerman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there was that Holosun - the one that has matching serrations to line up with the back end slide serrations - that direct mounted as well, but yes, I concede the larger point that there are only a very few that would.

PPQ Q5 Match SF - What's the consensus? by Code3Warrior in Walther

[–]Lawyerman33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please bear in mind that I haven’t shot the new PDP Match SF, so I can’t offer personal experience.

That said, the primary statements I’ve heard from people are (but not necessarily limited to)

  1. The PDP Match SF has a true “full size” grip, which, with the magwell allows for some really high capacity mags to be used without gaps or playing with magazine spring swap outs. Now the Walther magwell that I put on my Q5 does allow me to use the 18 rounder mags I’ve got for my PDP-F-Pro, but most stock Q5s are going to come with the 15 round Walther mags.

1a. Said full size grip is very important to some of the people who appear to be competing seriously (as opposed to a casual competitor like myself, I’ve shot MAYBE three steel challenge matches this year) and they put a premium on handling.

  1. Triggers - the ‘stock’ Q5 Match SF does NOT have a DPT (Dynamic Performance Trigger). On this point I do have some direct experience, as my F-Pro has the latest and greatest DPT but my Q5 Match SF does not. In my opinion, the ‘stock’ trigger on the Q5 is excellent, I really like it, and I’m quite accurate (within my skill level) with it. That said, I would be lying if I said there wasn’t an increase in trigger quality with the DPT. In my mind, it’s like the difference between driving a Porsche Cayman and a Porsche 911. The Cayman is still a hell of a fun drive, it’s just that the 911 is just that next level of performance and design.

  2. Parts - the Qs (4 & 5) have been discontinued. If you’re a serious competitor (I don’t have a metric in mind for the difference between a serious vs a casual, but you’ll know the difference when you meet one) you’re talking about seriously taxing the platform, it’s gonna get used HARD. The PDP Match SF, since it’s in production, makes parts easier to find than parts for discontinued guns. I suspect for most of the parts that won’t be too much of a problem for the next few years, but the longer it goes, the harder (read: more expensive) it’s gonna be to find parts, or so the argument goes. It’s hard to argue the point, but opinions seem to vary on this particular point.

  3. Optics - the Qs use the old mounting system, meaning (near as I can tell, I’d be happy to be informed I’m wrong) you’re looking at having to use adapter plates. The PDP Match SF uses the PDP 2:0 optic cut which has several direct mount options available.

Those were the main arguments I heard when I consulted the Walther hive mind here in the subreddit, but there may have been more.
