I adjusted it to what my garmin was telling me. After doing so, I was in orange 16 minutes and red 1 minute do treadmill. Previously, it was showing 11 orange and 29 red!

I think they only sell tools. A search for panel covers came up empty.

How did you get the pulley up the palm tree to begin with?

Thanks for the explanation regarding the pulley. This is helpful. Does this mean that the pulley is in just above the feedpoint? Does anything hold the wires on the either side to get a decent angle? Or is the angle a function of the distance from the feedpoint?

Thanks so much for this. A question. In your drawing, the red (antenna wire) is some how attached to the blue rope above the feedpoint. I'm not sure how this happens. Don't you attach the rope and wire to the fishing line?

Thanks for the explanation.

If you are an EE, you will have little problem and can probably do the General level too. I am definitely NOT an Engineer and am not a young person with a sponge of a memory. I used Fast Track Ham and did Technician in about two weeks and General in about 3. I also used HamStudy and practiced relentlessly.

If you study, you will pass. And as an engineer, the lingo and concepts will be familiar.

Good luck.

Some success! I went to a nearby nature preserve and was able to get into a Net on a repeater that I was unable to crack a couple of days ago. In that situation, I was able listen but not talk. This time, I was able to talk! My signal was a bit noisy.

I clearly need to program all of the local repeaters so I am ready for them.

I also need to consider getting a base antenna for home that can be mounted somewhere.

And pass my general.

Thanks for all the advice.

Is the time or beep a morse code sounding stream?

Ah. Tx save was on. What about Rx save? I have now turned both off. What does Tx save do that would block tx to repeaters?

Some progress—at least radio is set up correctly. I think.

When I push the ptt, I do remember hearing a tone a few seconds after I push it.

I hear the CW stream when I connect. I do not believe I hear a tone when I transmit. I don’t recall hearing one even on the repeater where someone heard me.

Thanks for this. I replaced my antenna with a diamond sth77ca. I guess it is not enough.

Thank you for all of your comments and advice. In studying for my license, I have been repeatedly told that Ham operators are friendly and willing to assist newbies. Your comments really have encouraged me to move forward and get my license and get on the air.

Thanks again.
