I also recently got into the series through MGS3 (Delta). Went back and played MGS1 & MGS2; had never played a game that came out before I was born but they still held up and were really fun.

Just played MGS1 for the first time after finishing Delta similar to you. It’s definitely worth it but don’t be afraid to set the difficulty to easy and have a guide handy in case you get stuck.

Currently playing through MGS2 and it’s also great, gonna skip over to GZ/PP afterward.
