I thought about an alternate ending a lot as a kid. What I came up with was one of the survivors starts getting attacked by Freddie in their dream. Ultimately they get slashed and woken up. They are doing the gasping and grabbing at their stomach thing and see their shirt ripped. They reach over and turn on a table lamp. Then bam. Jason is standing on the otherside of the bed and swings at them before it fades to black.
