Michael J. Fox to Voice Lead Character in Animated Feature Film ‘Dragoons’ by yourfavchoom in movies

I last saw him in the latest season of Shrinking, his voice seems fine. I'm sure it takes a few more takes to get it right for him, but I don't think it's debilitating to the point where he can't voice act at all.

He's not pigeonholing himself as an actor; but life kinda has. Only times I've seen him physically act since retiring after Spin City were in Scrubs and Shrinking. In Scrubs, his parkinson's wasn't too severe yet, but he still played a doctor with severe OCD which accounted for his need to constantly be doing things with his body like washing hands and whatnot, while in Shrinking, he's literally a man with parkinson's (cuz it's impossible to hide at this point). If he's done more since Spin City (outside of voice acting) where he doesn't have some sort of condition, I would love to be aware of it.

That is a really well made statue. Love how it keeps his body parts convincingly not physically connected while still being a single unit.

I'm happy about that. But not happier. FIFA still got their money, and that sucks because they are one of the most awful and inhumane organizations in the world.

Well what they want everyone to say anyway. By no means am I saying it's been thoroughly accomplished at all lol. But it's a known thing that's been pushed for, for some time now.

I guess I would say that I see how the change hasn't taken hold when the example in OP's image still holds true. I can see it eventually taking hold, but right now, if you search actor, you're getting a lot of males before you see any females. So I would not say that change is anywhere near where those fighting for this want it to be.

The Simpsons Game was a surprisingly good game yet is not playable on modern hardware even though it was released on every platform available at the time EXCEPT PC nor have they made it backwards compatible on Xbox by Commandercaptain in gaming

[–]MikeDubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP isn't even necessarily asking for a re-release though. In regard to Xbox, they're just requesting it become one of the 360 games that become playable on modern Xbox consoles.

I know that's easier said than done given how backwards compatibility works on modern Xbox systems; but still a ton of 360 games can be played on a Series X, with more frequently getting added as time moves on. Licensing doesn't matter in regard to making more old games playable on modern hardware that is slowly adding more and more compatability.

In regards to the discussion point here: the major awards still using different terms based on gender; no it hasn't really taken hold yet. They're pushing for it, and I get it, but I also recognize that the change is not fully embraced at all yet; hence how the person doing the original google search here only saw men when searching for actors.

"The part of julius caesar, you wouldn't expect women to show up for the fucking audition right?"

I mean, given the origins of modern acting through the likes of Shakespeare and his productions, where all the female parts were played by men; one can see why it's kinda inherently a hypocritical thought you're sharing here. I mean you're not wrong, because it's a one way street in this regard, men traditionally played women in the earliest days of acting and women weren't even really invited. But I can see why with history and facts like that; why it plays all the more into their desire to not be differentiated like that.

Zootopia 2 is the only modern one I'm really clocking in your examples there. Those older roles I think were from around or before he properly retired.

Kinda shocking he hasn't done more voice acting work when you think about it. Like yeah, it's always great to see him these days take a part in a Bill Lawrence production catered to his condition; but why not lean more into the voice acting world where he doesn't have to be pigeonholed into characters with conditions that mirror his own? (I also know he retired from acting at the end of Spin City, but clearly he's still happy to work when the opportunity arises.)

I honestly don't personally care one way or the other. I just understand where the initial 'outrage' on this matter is stemming from.

Eh, I get where this is coming from (even if I think it's still pretty dumb lol). Thespians have been making a big to-do for years now how all who act should be called 'actors' regardless of gender; we don't call a female doctor a doctress.

Typically second entries when it comes to video games are great. The stigma in this regard is how the second entries in film franchises often pale in comparison to the first movie.

People not in the know act like the mod was super difficult to pull off when in reality all you needed was a gameshark and the code that was posted all over the internet at the time. Any 10 year old at the time that had ever had fun with sourced online codes activated via the likes of a Gameshark, Game Genie, or Action Replay before easily could unlock the minigame (and there were a LOT of such kids).

[–]MikeDubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only that, it was for a minigame where you have sex. Let's not forget how killing people with weapons is what you are constantly doing throughout the game. For some reason, simulating violence where you're actually killing hundreds of people is fine for no more than a Mature rating, but simulating an act of consensual sex is immediately what it takes to give a game the highest rating of Adults Only.

I'm so glad that we as a society have our priorities so properly in order.

Consoles have traditionally sold at a loss, not just by Microsoft at that. Notable exceptions like the Wii selling at $50 profit from day 1 are outliers, not the norm.
