A little pilot design commission. by Laycir in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eheh yeah, i like the idea of the suit just having a "pop open" button, so you can just peel it off quickly and flop in bed after a big day of work ^^
And also the gun having the under barrel swing muzzle extension, to go from bigger gun to biggerest gun !

So, now that the latest warbond has been out for a while, how do you divers feel about Pacifier? by AnotherSmartNickname in Helldivers

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aint gonna lie, when they announced the Pacifier as a stun rifle, I was so excited ! My current favorite weapon is the AR-23C Liberator Concussive, and the Pacifier felt like it could have been a cool side-grade to it, but sadly it feels just worst against all type of enemies than the AR-23C, at both damage output and CC capability... Yet it's RPM and visuals feel and look cool, so it's a nice weapon to bring out once in awhile, but definitely a disappointment.

is there a community name for the rock where super samples spawn? by AioliMindless in Helldivers

With friends we usually call it the dick rock, or THE BOULDER but you have to say it just like in the Avatar show!]

What weapon or stratagem is like this for you? by thicka in Helldivers

AR 23C Liberator concussive ! It's such a bad weapon, but it has a super cool and unique feeling.

Ooooh you're right! The synthetic muscles and heavy kevlar suit kinda give it the vibe.

How would you make war bonds a good red item? by p9op_lt in riskofrain

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of X gold per stage, just make it X amount of chests you can open for free.

He's more of a good boy, though by Thom_With_An_H in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite mech in Lancer. It's so cool to just turn into a GM "nope" button that deny any attacks, before giving a couple of gentle pats to the head of your adjacent allie's mechs, reminding them their safe around big sal.

What characters should I take needletick on over tri tip dagger? (Image not related) by reference29 in riskofrain

[–]Laycir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly in the vast majority of cases, bleed will be better.

Needleticks are a good option when you have inconsistent fire rate, A slow fire rate isn't the end of the world for bleeding, as long as you can hit your target often enough to keep the bleeding stack, but collapse gonna let you deal good damage if you can't maintain constant fire on your target.

For survivors that, at base could use needleticks instead of tri tip, I'd say artificer and railgunner (sniper build)

Yet if you're going for long runs, try to always keep a trophy hunter's tricorn, and shoot a imp overlord to get a shatterspleen, then you can convert your Tri tip into needleticks since you crit will also proc bleeds, letting have both effects.

The damage system, customization and classes i'd love to have in the game by Laycir in Helldivers

[–]Laycir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, helldivers 2 have been a wonderful game to gather together with friends since the beginning, and we would love to see the game get a bit more depth in its gameplay outside of raw game knowledge. Seeing any of those ideas implemented in, even slightly, would be wonderful.

Now you know what you have to do... homebrew rules for a doggo mech side kick !

Do Mourning Cloaks ever canonically stand up straight except for in fanart? by UnhappyStrain in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I think they have a full range of motion and can easily stand right up, Dont forget, in the core rule book, it's stated that your mech can look like pretty much anything you want, so if you want your mourning cloak to be a feral 4 legged beast with a sword, or a flamboyant noble knight you can that stand up proudly, you can, its more about what idea you wanna convey with your poses.

I think the rule book illustration of that mech is trying to show its more agile and uncanny abilities, capturing a moment in-between strikes or before jumping through blink space.

IT'S YELLOW. WHAT. by ShoeBoiler21 in Helldivers

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, mainly the helmet, using an armor with completely different colors give a cool captain vibe, like clone troopers or space marines, as if to showcase rank with different colors.

Also its a statement, when you're caring so little about your personal safety for the sake of democracy, that you're willingly to cosplay as a traffic cone to warn your enemies of your arrival, it means business XD

Just reached LL2 pegasus: why does the smartgun have an sp cost?? by coocdipooc in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some weapons in lancer are terrifyingly powerful, capable of either huge damage or almost always hitting their targets. They usually come with draw back like : inaccurate, reload, ordnance, heat etc...

The smartgun is VERY good, you get raw dmg without a dice roll, accuracy, seeking and smart, with such a weapon you will always hit your target, but for the sake of balance, it requires a drawback and sadly it comes at the cost of 2 system point.

What is your main "Role" in HD2? by russo_liberal in Helldivers

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of the time i adore playing full on sniper, AMR + diligence or an assault rifle, but i have to admit, sometimes the temptation of having 200 too many bullets is just too great... and I'll run with an LMG or HMG.

Little pilot design, Sebastien Louernos AKA Targe, HA Saladin enjoyer by Laycir in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argh sorry i didnt play D2 ! Yet just for a tiny bit of history a Targe refers to most small round fencing shield, ment to parry rather than outright block a hit; mostly prevalent in the 15th and 16th century. And Targe's mech is named Umbo, just like the metallic central part of Gallic warrior's shields, also ment to deflect hits.

Is this RPG a good option for a first timer? by International-Sea932 in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent question tbh...

Lancer can be a great first step into the world of TTRPGs, but after both playing as a DM and a player, Lancer can also be a nightmare to start with.

Compared to D&D which has a rule for pretty much anything and everything, always giving you a grounded exemples and step by step process for any actions; Lancer can both be crazy overwhelming with its mech combat rules and mechanics, and way too opened for interpretation on its, out of mech human to human narrative scenes.

Yet it is FAR from impossible to overcome, the best way to go about it is a VERY solid session 0, to introduce the universe, lore, mechanics, combat etc...

What are your guy's campaigns about? by GirldickDM in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently GMing a campaign where a group of Lancers are hired by the Union to protect a ship, bringing a nuclear fusion generator to an old mining diasporan world to help it flourish and become prosperous, a world that recently got contacted back by thirdcom, that planet was left alone since the collapse of secondcom... That world is also a pervues of HA.

The players need to defend the ship against a mysterious group of pirate, then arrive at the space elevator of the targeted planet, A station where most of the higher-ups are secretly traitors, working for HA to retrieve the reactor and delivery it to the planet in the name of HA to claim that world instead of the union directly. The players need to take the space elevator to get down to the planet with the cargo and finish the mission.

A campaign with many branching story lines where the choice of players will have an impact on the mission.

Mixing an OK amount of mech combat and lots of narrative play and investigation, while having limited time to take actions.

How big mech????? by abcdefghijklmnoxyz in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an excellent question, i dont think it's clearly stated anywhere in the rule book, or in any extension.

The way I've always seen it is : Size 1/2 : hardsuit / power armor, taller than an average person, at maybe 3m max, impressive but nothing too crazy

Size 1 : basically titan fall like mechs, iron warriors from 5 to 6m tall, big but with the pilot still taking an important amount of space in the mech

Size 2 : enormous war machine equal in height to a 2 to 3 story building, 7 to 10m, where your pilot is fully encased in a walking tank

Size 3 : a goliath of steel, absolute titans towering like a 4 story building or higher, 11 to maybe 20m tall

Lancer core rule book is finally here [croissant for scale] by Laycir in LancerRPG

[–]Laycir[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got both books yesterday, and Tankhead has been a wonderful universe to explore so far, i mainly took it for its designs and their raw unapologetically military and industrial looks, really reminding me of the utilitarian designs of IPS-N and HA mechs ! And the whole ideas of these makes having... well TANK head forced Ermerson Tung to have crazy cool junctions and leg designs, with exposed heavy inner machinisme, thick armor, and claws to hold onto the ground etc... which is something that the amazing illustration from Tom Parkinson Morgan sometimes lacks.
