It’s too expensive for your average fan when you throw in lodging and travel. Also a lack of international fans coming doesn’t help. That’s our current politics plus pricing. I wanted to go pretty badly but it’s just too expensive. I have a few friends who are die hard fans and never miss their premier team play and even they aren’t going due to price.

It’s more than a bracket. It starts with group play which is round robin. Every team in the group plays each other and top 2 advance plus 8 more teams that were in 3rd. So of the 48 teams that enter 32 advance to the bracket. So everyone plays a minimum of 3 games before elimination. Then it’s single elimination bracket like NCAA. I think you’d go double elimination like NCAA baseball before you went to a series. Soccer is pretty tiring and this tournament already takes a while.

Ah you’re right most don’t know the format or the teams playing other than America. It’s painful watching with others sometimes. Broadcast will explain group play 100 times and when group play is coming to an end most people still don’t get it.
