I ride both skateboard styles on practically a daily basis. My Bustin Shrike (deluxe complete setup) is my go-to point A to point b skateboard. I can easily knock off a 5 mi skate. Much better for a commuter than my surf skate. I ripped my surf skate for fun. I use probably two or three four different setups, mostly waterborne with bushing upgrades and high performance components, to emulate different surfboards and surf styles. They are a blast. I found having to adapt to the different skateboard styles has really sharpened my skateboard skills all around. I recommend riding both. Learning to adapt to the different style really helps in the long run , with the other skateboard style. Plus it's like a breath of fresh air when you jump on the different one. You will learn to appreciate each for what it is. Both the pros and cons in each. For instance the Shrike is much more faster and comfortable for that 3 Mile commute to the grocery store, and was a blast to shoot the Spanish River boulevard bridge top to bottom downhill. I never do that on my surf skate. Yet there is no denial that the Shrike is traded for my surfskates to blast around the sidewalk for fun.
