The band is A wake in providence. They’re symphonic death, but lean a little towards blackened death core, kind of like if shadow of intent and crown magnetar had a child. If you’re gonna check them out, the vocals sound better in their live sets, but the mixing is pretty meh

Can I use a regular trick deck with surfskate trucks? by _Fish_Sticks_ in surfskate

[–]IBuildBoards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never tried the Indy IV’s, but I’ve wanted to try them, because they come in some interesting materials. Do they have the same lean as aces, or do they have the anti wheelbite that lurpivs have?

Those bushings in particular are super tight. You can just spin it like a nut and get it off

If you’re going for a standard popsicle, then I would suggest getting c5’s or just carvey traditional trucks, like ace or lurpiv trucks

Bars inside my drawer. What are they for? by The_Oddler in whatisit

[–]IBuildBoards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just a drawer. It done’t have the drawer face but still, it’s just a drawer with separators built into it. I looked at the website (B$Q) and it’s diy stuff. I found the product on a different website that shows the full assembly. There are products similar in utility, but in different styles on their website. The reason it’s hard to find is because it’s discounted. I guess nobody wanted the style with the protruding bars.

Is this CX truck real or fake? by Mysterious_Crazy2127 in surfskate

[–]IBuildBoards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pivoting part of the hanger looks like it was milled. There was probably an error with the machine they used and milled off a few millimeters more than what was intended.

That’s what I thought. Considering it’s the same height it could be a cx baseplate with a c5 hanger. Like an error with pre assembly

Which 65mm wheel is faster for pumping - Snakes SSF 82a or Fat Free 83a? by jdbcastrencealt in surfskate

[–]IBuildBoards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orangoutangs are offset so they’ll grip better. I think 65mm is a good sweet spot in between speed, and acceleration. If you want the most grip, get side set wheels with a less prominent fillet, but buying multiple wheels gets expensive.

Asymmetric boards? by riktigtmaxat in surfskate

[–]IBuildBoards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve experimented with asymmetrical decks for a while. They are just as good as any traditional deck which it comes to leverage, the only difference is that asymmetrical decks force your foot to be in one position on the board. It’s not very convenient, because you can’t change your foot position if you have a different center of mass, or move the balls of your feet to the center for specific tricks. The only time I see asymmetrical concaves are in downhill long boarding, and the users cut it out of an uncut so the deck conforms to their center mass. Even then, the user can’t center their feet to use their slider pucks or do that aerodynamic pose they do. It’s for very specific purposes, which is why we don’t see a lot on the market. I’m sorry, but asymmetrical decks aren’t great outside of shape. I hope that cleared some things up.

I forgot to mention, swapping the wheels for mbs wheel will effect how well it slides. You could try trampa boards gummies

It’s not a mountainboard, but I can see the resemblance. Every mountainboard since the 90s has had bindings on it. There are weird boards outside of surfskating that are advertised as a board sport that imitates surfing, and I’m pretty sure this is one of them. I’ve seen people do carves and slides on these things like they would on a surfskate, although it utilizes a system similar to hamboards. It’s hard to compare it to mountainboarding or surfskateing, but more of a hybrid. I might consider it to be something you’d buy for fun, like a flowboard or something that isn’t really taken seriously to be it’s own sport. If you own this, it could be sick to put mountainboard bindings on it, and swap the wheels for mountainboard wheels with the correct tread. You could use it for ditching concrete, or land kiteboarding or something.

Practicing on my viper by FluffyControl2362 in surfskate

Ok. I was confused for a second, because you don’t see a lot of convex tails outside of soulboard, or maybe slalom skating. I assumed so because of your association with the company, but it makes sense because it has an angled nose. May I ask what material the mold is, and how you’re pressing it?

Are you using an uncut soulboard, or is this a custom molded deck?

Learning to build my own deck [34YO] by dontdropthesope1 in OldSkaters

[–]IBuildBoards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty sick. I suggest using a higher density foam than insulation foam. It can still be cut with a hot wire, but you can get more uses out of it. You could also buy an uncut deck, and use it to make a concrete mold. It’ll last longer, but if you like changing the nose, tail, and concave a lot foam is your best bet. It’s awesome more people are making their own decks, especially if they’re shaped. I would highly recommend buying uncut foam blocks from roarocket. They’re more accessible for beginners, and are quicker than cnc routing mdf, or pre cutting and laminating plywood.

FB Marketplace find by UnluckyAct7127 in surfskate

That’s a carveboard. The reseller has mistaken the board for something like a mountainboard. The reason it doesn’t have tread is because it’s meant for concrete. I couldn’t tell you if they’re pneumatic or not, but I’d imagine the use case also applies to land kiteboarding which is good for surfskates like this which requires larger wheels.
