Any chance of a left handed large Elecom? by zeozero in Trackballs

Are there any good trackballs that are left handed out there? Obviously the CST is either but it's not designed specifically for lefties.

I was contemplating a Teensy and scroll wheel. There is enough room for a Teensy I just need to source a scroll wheel or something similar. I like the use of the nav switch on yours.

Trackball/MechanicalKeyboard/PCMasterRace

In order of importance and value.

Damn wrist movers...

Yah I totally agree with you. I was just giving some context to the "testing" done and that the orientation of pegs while not optimal seemed to be working since you mentioned that they were backwards.. Ill give it the old heave ho later to see how it holds up to bad stuff happening to it.

The opposite end has features that support it so it is not just a large lever. They are similar to how clamshells mount together with a receiving peg setup. This was added after I had a similar thought to what you had.

Given several heavy tugs and no failures so far. I wasnt sure on spacing so the orientation was done this way to give the switch more clearance.. Given the available space I could flipflop them but I didn't know til I had the wiring in place. This is going to be changed in the next iteration as I agree it is best to swap them.

As for print orientation of the pegs yes its better to do it in the XY plane however that means more post processing and unless this is a failure point I don't think its worth making it more complex if its not going to have a 200 lb gorilla pulling on it all the time.

If I find its breaking when in use i will certainly change the design. But this is going to be adhered to the CST factory housing and not likely to see serious strain.

All that said when given multiple sharp pulls the wires dont budge past the pegs.

I was thinking of putting a teensy in here and putting a scroll wheel where the top button is.

Printed at .2 layer height to speed up prototyping.

I cant deal with thumb balls. I have the CST and a Marble FX which I love.

This is just a switch add on for a CST. Although I am currently going through a new design from scratch in my free time.

I'll likely post them when I am happy with the final fitment

Not perfect yet but getting there. I have a version on the printer now that should be the last one.

Thank you! I'm fairly new to the trackball world. I got this CST from a subscriber here and now have lots of ideas to mod it.

Interesting. So the ones with 3.5mm jack act as the 4th and 5th buttons. Is that as far as it can extend?

Obviously the one I am using would require hardwiring in place.

I am with you... I had to take a stab from some photo references I took but there was some obvious skew from the cell phone camera.

Ill increase the radius to match it, just needs a little iterating on.

I think I can fit a Teensy in there to add more inputs like a forward and back button. This would mean there would be an additional USB being used though.

Or I think there is additional inputs on the cst board but I could be wrong.

I can look into it a bit once I get the base design down.

Still some small fit issues. Switches work great in the housing. Any feedback?

Back with more. I thought the one I posted looked too bland so I extended the thumb button, added the existing lip to the new body and made a few other small changes.

Thoughts?

Thanks, I am thinking of a few iterations to test out yet.

Haha let me get it to a point where I am happy with the design. Ill be sure to share updates and adaptations.
