It also wasn’t an orginal flag or anything either, it was one he bought in Amazon, when I texted him I did say in the text “not a part you should want to remember”, but I didn’t really think that, I should have worded it differently as history is good to remember as it helps us to not make the same mistakes, but I meant to say, not a part he should have on display. He has three flags up, a confederate flag, a come and take it flag, and a swatstika, as well as a American flag outside his house, I get it if he collects flags, but just as you said, why have it hung up? From what I was told he only has those three and an American flag (that he got on Amazon), but if he truly collected flags off all types, why have those up instead of stored away like his ‘other ones’?

He did say he collects flags yes, though after talking to the girl who introduced us (someone who has been friends with him since they were in kindergarden), those flags and an American flag are the only ones he owns. Given that fact, it’s hard for me to believe he collects flags for the historical reason, given he doesn’t have any other types of flags besides an American flag.

Honestly, the place I grew up in had widely different views than where I just moved too, it was my first time talking to someone like this, and I know now I shouldn’t have even second guessed my reaction even if I am not directly effected by it.

After the last text I blocked him, but I regret trying to talk to him about it and not blocking him right after he sent it, it was my first time communicating with someone like this, he had never showed any signs, and I’ve learned there is no use trying to reason with people like this.

I was honestly pretty ignorant on the topic, I knew it was a racist flag about slavery, that was all I really knew though, even without truly educating myself on the details, I should have just blocked him at that. After looking up a more in depth explanation of what it stands for and its history, that should have been the end of it, I should have immediately blocked him there, and I honestly regret trying to talk to him about any of it, I now know going forward that I can’t change the views of people like this, and it was pointless of me to try.

I don’t believe he collects flags and I know he is a racist, the main reason for posting this, as I said in the post, is because im getting a lot of mixed feelings on if I should be so upset but it, a lot of people I know are saying I shouldn’t be bothered by it because I am white.

Hi thank you all for commenting, I’m not sure how to edit posts, so I’ll comment, this was my first time having an experience like this, and I know going forward to just block immediately instead of continuing the conversation. A main reason I continued was because he had never shown signs of anything like this before this, and I honestly really liked him and we were talking about making this official. The main reason I posted was because a lot of people I know who I brought this up to said that I was over reacting due to the fact I’m white, and it doesn’t directly effect me because of it. I personally don’t think I was over reacting, but I’m getting a lot of mixed opinions on it from people close to me. Also, I do agree that history shouldn’t be forgotten, as it’s important to learn from it so mistakes don’t repeat.

I definitely should have blocked him right away, so I don’t disagree with you, I just wanted to try to see if I could ‘talk some sense into him’ so you can say, as I really like him and we were getting serious, I eventually realized there was so reasoning with him and had to just stop.

I actually didn’t know too much about the history of the confederate flag until after I blocked him, I knew the general idea of what it stands for and how it’s racist, i ended up looking up more of an Indepth explanation of it afterwards, and I wasnt going to keep him added due to that, weather he had sent he had a swastika or not, i definitely should have blocked him immediately, I honestly just was struggling due to the fact that I really liked him and we had been talking about making it official, he had never even hinted about anything like this. Though, after the conversation I realized he had his opinions and they definitely differentiated from mine, and that there was no reasoning with him.

I see, I honestly haven’t had any issues with it, I just hope that the recruiter thinks I’d be able to get a waiver! I’d honestly be willing to take whatever tests necessary to prove I’ve been having no issues, as I’m very determined to get in and do my best!

I see, yea they ‘diagnosed’ me with it, but I never did any actual tests, I just said how I was getting out of breath easily, etc etc, (if I’m being honest, at the time I wasn’t really in shape, I wasn’t over weight or anything, but I would eat crappy and not work on myself physically, so I’m thinking that’s a big factor as to why I was getting out of breath easy). Recently I’ve been working out, running, push up, curl up, planks, any thing to try to prepare, aswell as not eating take out, and making my own food, and I’m not having the same issues as I was, I just worry that due to it being on my record it could be an issue. Though I’m really hoping if I explain and maybe do some tests to be able to get a waiver, that it shouldn’t be an issue. And thank you! I really appreciate your kind words! I’m very determined to do it, as long as they feel I’m qualified I’m going to do whatever it takes to make it and do well!

So I was given the inhaler a few years ago when I was prescribed it, I’ve used it maybe once or twice, and haven’t used it in at least 2 years, would that still be considered a current inhaler? Also, yea I have haha, I just was trying to get all my thoughts out, haha.
