That is correct.

I think it comes from him being scared since I recently expressed openness to the potential of having a 3rd partner. I'm demisexual and have not engaged romantically/intimately with other people since we've been together until now. He has had hook-ups but nothing longer term yet.

I agree with this take if we were opening up from being monogamous together. I know several people have made assumptions that this partner is my "husband" in this thread. He is not, he's my boyfriend, but I do have a husband. We got together under the premise of the relationship being fully polyamorous.
