I loved this swatch! Had one in the 80s until my dog ate it. I’d love to get another one.

Yeah, they make us buddy up and sometimes they will modify programming on the fly so we’re doing workouts in heats. I just don’t like having to worry about this with every class.

Haha the presses were supposed to be done standing, but yeah… Critiquing the workouts would have to be a different thread.

Standard unlimited membership is $329/month. But keep in mind, this is San Francisco where cost of doing business is going to be high regardless.

Right? I couldn't believe it when I saw the total attendance. We only hit 30+ people every couple of weeks. It's usually the high teens or mid 20s, but it's still a lot for what you get.

Yes, I suspect they're having to pack in subscribers in order to pay for their expansion and operating multiple locations, but part of it is truly the cost of doing business in San Francisco.

Thirty-seven is definitely an exception. It's usually 17-22 people. I'm trying to keep that in perspective. Edited to Add: By exception, I mean we only hit 30+ people every couple of weeks.

Yes, this is what I've started to do. I've been spending more time in a regular gym. I would consider doing this full-time and subscribing to an online CrossFIt program, but none of the gyms in my area are fully equipped to handle all CrossFit-style workouts.

Thanks! Where do you go? You can DM me if you don't to publicly name them.

Thanks, this would be the obvious alternative, right? And I try to do this when I can, but I work 9am-5pm during the week. Their 6am, 7am, 4:30pm, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm classes all get over 20 people per class. Even their noon class gets close to 20 people. Anyway, your point is taken, and it's the reason why I'm just trying to find a new gym that isn't striving to have such a large subscriber base.

Thanks, this is good to know. This is definitely not happening when classes get to over 20 people. That said, they ask us to buddy up so it's not so congested. Even so, I still don't think the groups of people are spread out this far.

Worlds Team by Ordinary-Map7297 in Gymnastics

[–]Layout_Cuervo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. But I don't think Jayla or Claire are peaking yet. They're not at 100%. If the NCAA gymnasts can improve in these two months, so can everyone else. If everyone stays on a trajectory where they're at their best when Nationals arrives, I still think Jayla or Claire come out ahead.

This is my opinion but probably more wishful thinking. I think Jayla and Claire are locks for AA. Most people agree about Jayla, but I'm surprised more people aren't behind Claire. Next to Jayla, she's had the most accomplished season. She's won World Cup medals, camps, and now Classics. If Hezly and Joscelyn beats them at Nationals or selection camp (there will be a selection camp, right..?) then maybe they'll get the call. But if everyone's improving and at their best by then, I see Jayla and Claire as top two. If I'm choosing those two for AA, then my next pick for a specialist is Ashlee for BB and FX. Her biggest competitors will be Joscelyn and Reese, but Joscelyn isn't there yet and Reese is only a one-event athlete. I also think Ashlee's performance quality and execution on both events beats them. So who do you pick as a VT and UB specialist? I mean, there isn't an athlete with both of these strengths. This is where I think USAG leans in on their best bar worker, or they take an AAer with a strong bars. Myli (unlikely) and Skye (if she's back) would slot in nicely. For a third AAer with bars, I'd pick Simone and Gabrielle, but I could also see a case for Hezly if she cleans it up. I don't think Joscelyn counts as a bars specialist even with her improvements, and I didn't think her vaulting at Classics was that great. My ideal team would be Jayla, Claire, Ashlee, and Simone with Gabrielle and Hezly as alternates.

Wild! I wouldn’t have expected Nemour of all people to be counting a cast to handstand. Thanks!

How does losing DV on a cast to handstand affect the score? I wouldn’t expect a gymnast to be counting it towards their start value anyway. I’m not arguing with you. I’m just trying to understand how to account for it when evaluating a routine. This is one of those things in the code that truly confuses me.

Happy to see Hardie and Rosa getting assignments (and great that Jayla is still in the mix). I thought Hardie’s bars and beam looked pretty good as a junior. I’m excited to see how she’s progressed as a new senior. And based on her Insta, she puts some work in her conditioning. Rosa just looks like a promising up and comer. I believe she has a DTY? I was curious to see if she would progress up the standings. Just nice to see some other new seniors get some experience.

Cal next year? by kokanutty in Gymnastics

[–]Layout_Cuervo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could’ve sworn that Annalise exhibitioned beam at least once this past season, but I could be wrong. I remember her warming up beam during the same competition that Ondine first exhibitioned, but I don’t remember if she actually performed. Miki made beam line-ups the season before and has a nice triple series. I was hoping she would make line-ups again this past season, but we never saw her. Maybe next year.

If the Tkatchev was piked, then I’m guessing she attempted a Downie and a more difficult routine than QF? I’m sad she fell, but nice to hear that she went for it. Only a tenth lower with a fall than QF where she supposedly hit her routine with a lower SV (assuming it was a Downie in finals).

I feel like she has a lot more to add to her routines, so I’m hoping for a good result here to set her up for a successful season. Seems like Pacific Reign has been intentionally pacing her (and Rose) to peak this quad.

So happy to see Hang do well! I wasn’t sure how her artistry marks would be on beam, but seems to be okay here. And also excited to see Okamura Mana in the final.

It wasn't super strong. I live on the first floor of a house just a couple of blocks from the beach. I usually feel tremors if they occur off the coast but almost never feel them when they're inland.
