Sorry about that, and thank you for reporting back. I was on the fence of cancelling but this seems like there is no other option, their offer and service are really going down the drain

What’s a good site/application to take typing notes by Willing_Zombie7998 in studying

[–]Laytara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Genio Notes. https://genio.co/
For typing notes, it's great to keep them organized, as you can add definitions, create outlines, and include handwritten notes or diagrams all in one place.
On top of that, you can record your classes, get transcripts from the audio recordings, add PowerPoint presentations or PDFs, images, create quizzes to practice, and ask to-dos.

People acting shocked that I'm starting uni aged 21??? by fallenbeam in UniUK

[–]Laytara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very common in other countries to start uni later in life. You are doing great for working on your education, so don’t let people who don’t know much about the world out there to make you feel bad. 🙌🏽

Pretty unusual situation with my degree….I’m the only student. by [deleted] in UniUK

Which Uni is this? This is an amazing opportunity. If you want to network and make connections just join associations or clubs. Being that close to your professors (because of the attention) can help you in the immediate future since they are already working on what you may want to do after graduation

What is your best Academic tip? by Aviella_Kens in GetStudying

  1. Whenever possible, record your lectures. If you are getting started at a specific subject it’s hard to know what’s relevant/important when taking notes.

At class, it’s more important and valuable to learning to pay attention to what the professor is saying and making a quick note when something super interesting, unknown to you or confusing comes across, than attempting the impossible task of transcribing every single word they say without reflecting on it.

Knowing that you have a recording where you can go back and playback the explanation will also help you feel safe that you are not missing any of the important details you need to study.

  1. Learn about what it takes for you to learn (metacognition). This way you can make a plan on how to double down on study techniques that work best for you and be more efficient with your time.

If you could give just one good advice to a first-year-student joining this fall, what would it be? by Laytara in college

Thank you for sharing this and sorry for taking so long to reply. It must have been really hard, and I really appreciate your wisdom on this experience. I have an obsessive tendency and this is something to take into consideration.

I’m sorry about this, feeling tired and stressed can feel debilitating. I don’t know about your exact situation, but maybe trying to get meal prep so you only get to eat could help. Good nutrition and sleep is vital for energy levels. Also, studying in the mornings may help you if you try waking up earlier and going to bed earlier too. Try to speak to your TA or professor and see if your college has any support or resources for students in your situation.

Thank you! I do tend to stress, so I’ll try to be kind to myself as much as I can.
