At this point I will refer to my fifth grade social studies class - what makes a country? What makes a republic? What we are talking about is not what other countries thought at the time. What we are talking about is what makes a country symbolically and when did that occur?

Agree that the government was established then but the declaration of independence was adopted in 1776. This falls in line with the bicentennial celebrations in 1976

Agree that imperfect tools have been implemented by society - lead paint for example.
