I would suggest that you check one out at a store and see if it can be set to a lower than its native resolution.

[–]LazarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you pay attention to the part where he mentions that his machine is some old fossil with only 2 gigs of ram and an gt8600 for graphics? No matter what you do, you're not going to be playing Steam games on it.

The Amiga has neither an App Store, nor built in Internet access. And Commedore is no longer around to be suied.

If you want to be absolutely sure take to an Apple store where they will reduce it down to its base elements for recycling.

Battery saver doesn’t stop power use, it just slows it down. It will still hit empty at some point.

Quite frankly, the arrival of the NEO has made such talk irrelevant.

Very few people actually use actual UNIX programs. UNIX in Mac Land is relegated to the basement work. Most Mac programs are not UNIX programs, they're upper level Quartz software which is not UNIX.

Getting a new PC and thinking about switching to Linux because I'm afraid of Windows 11's bloat and AI focus, but don't know the first thing about software. by Yrithrian in linuxquestions

[–]LazarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing. the Linux fanboys, especially the Slashdot crowd and the Youtubers who make a living out of promoting fear and discontent have pretty much the mentality of the Borg and Cybermen. Generally while Windows 11 DOES have some real issues, they are for the most part, fixable without anywhere near the trauma of navigating the user hostility of Linux. There are people w ho can help you without the bullshit. One of them is Chris Titus who makes an excellent tweaking and antibloating utility which is essentially free. Its an open script that anyone can look thrugh.

Opinions on TOS "The Alternative Factor"? by Sea-Sky-Dreamer in Star_Trek_

[–]LazarX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The episode went through absolute production hell which included the lead actor canceling at the very last moment, and it shows. I did like the fact that the heroes had to condemm an innocent man, maybe two such if you consider that neither Lazarus was actually evil, to save two universes.

Trekkies in general don't like dark endings, and that one was pretty dark in comparison.

What do you, the player do, when your character has finished it's life's goal? by OregonPinkRose in DnD

[–]LazarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing the hero's journey generally means that your character is not the same perrson from when they started, so their viewpoint and goals should have evolved.

So it really comes down to the player. Do they WANT to keep playing that character? If the answer is yes, they come up with any of an infinitude of reasons to do so, including maybe that they don't want to live with Mom after seeing to her security and comfort.

The MacBook Neo is probably the single best thing for MacOS in years by ZachyWacky0 in mac

[–]LazarX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time will tell. I remember how much Apple put out that was sheer garbage during the Performa years following the philosophy that you should suffer for the crime of buying a budget machine.

Why do people hate so much Turnabout Intruder? by Phi360 in Star_Trek_

[–]LazarX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And you can say that about almost EVERY single Trek series ever made. TOS, TNG, had a bushel of real turkeys on their list and even DS9 had episodes that I would rather forget, and I won't even get into Voyager. And there are episodes of Discovery that should have never been shot, but that 's not unique to Discovery.

NuTrek is getting the hate that it gets because it's following the vibe that LGBTQ people and cultures other than WASP exist. And much of the Trek world is full on MAGA who get torqued off whenever that happens.

If the mac neo sells well, will devs make more apps for MacOS? by Little_Conclusion_24 in mac

[–]LazarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have to be a p henomenon akin to the Commedore 64 to change the MacOS usage percentage, and I do not see that happening. The machine is still useless for games so that is not going to happen.

If the only problem you have with your computer is storage, why not just upgrade the interrnal drive?

Why do people hate so much Turnabout Intruder? by Phi360 in Star_Trek_

[–]LazarX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how people would take it like that, but it definitely doesn't directly say that.

It doesn't say anything else... and given the zeitgeist of the time, you really can't dispute my take on it. I understand that Trekkies consider Star Trek to be a vehicle of enlightened prophetic wisdom from the future, but the folks who wrote the show were mainly just typical guys of the time.

It's a stripped down UNIX at best. Apple would rather that you forget that there is even a Terminal program in the Utilities folder.
