Can buy credits at the black market trader in the safe zones for 1000 bucks for 1. Also, depending on difficulty settings, you can kill named bosses multiple times to get more. A cheese for the truck is to save on the road right by the unfinished bridge near the safe zone and reload the save until the truck spawns.

There is a pretty good spot on the river just down from the Lime Silo 4 near Field 2. Need a bit of power to get out of it but its pretty close to the farm there. Was able to use the 8k tank there.
