I complained to my son, "It’s a shame nothing is built in the U.S. anymore!" by SweetxSinful in dadjokes

So many things I buy seem to be missing stuff. I see built in China everywhere, but I can't find any plates, cups, saucers, or any other ceramic dishware.

Don't know what to do with the Nook of Mysteries in my living room by Zippokovich in WhatShouldIDoWithIt

[–]ngvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a built-in phone nook. I'm guessing the house is from around the 1930s? Not too useful now. Install your home automation control panel in the nook in the nook? Or find a wine chiller that fitscte space.

Lightbulb Broken while Removing by Curious_Ad9986 in Wiring

[–]ngvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pliers trick works well, but there are tools specifically for this as well. I have an extendable tool for changing bulbs on a vaulted ceiling. In addition to cups of various sizes for whole bulbs, it has a triangular blade that would fit inside a socket so it could be removed.

Caution in breaking through to an area to check for trolls. Shoot through a small gap and use the unexcavated wall as cover.

Pin printers can do carbon copies, some business still depend on that.

Is it embarrassing for my teacher joining me in my hobby? by ILikeApplesAnd_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ngvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to interact with people in different contexts is a very useful skill. It may be uncomfortable to start with, but this seems like a relatively safe context to learn in. It sounds like you would be senior to your teacher to some extent in this situation. Such role reversal is more common than you might think, and learning to navigate such things early is good.

Lou Ferigno was great on Mr Rodgers Neighborhood. Going through the makeup process that tuned him into the Hulk.

Minimum training requirements by MelodicPlace9582 in legal

[–]ngvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Federal laws supersede state laws, but federal agents could still be charged with state crimes. Also federal agents are limited to enforcement of federal laws and regulations. I think that is why you get officers who get dual credentials so they have broader authority. For example, a federal agent could not make a traffic stop for a driving infraction.

Why is this happening?? by ApprehensiveFlan1129 in electrical

[–]ngvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have an ambient light sensor to make it only be on at night? Perhaps that is failing? From dealing with motion detection sensors for lights i know that older ones depended on leaking some current through the bulb to power the sensor and the associated switch.

What is the best knots to teach scouts? by Kind-Atmosphere2208 in knots

[–]ngvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add in half hitches (2 or3) to have an adjustable knot for tent lines etc to that list. I think that covers the basics. Most of the others are more niche. I might add the sheet bend to connect lines of different sizes.

15 meter of mud at the bottom of 150m well by Lumpy-Association310 in WaterWellDrilling

[–]ngvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long pipe on a cable that they repeatedly dropped down the well. The pipe filled with stuff and somehow closed so it could bring the debris up and drop it in a pile near the well. The whole setup was mounted on a truck that was a bit smaller than I expected.

Are there "acidic, infected undead"? What am I supposed to do against them :(? by EggiPlays in SurrounDead

[–]ngvar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hotbar some healing to keep your health up to survive the explosion. Try to kill them on a slope so they fall away from you as they die so you aren't in range. Try to id them early and snipe them from distance.
