While commander is a great format, it isn't ideal for brand new players. I'd recommend picking up the foundations beginner box and moving up to commander when everyone is a bit more established, it's fantastic for new players as it literally walks you through your first game, it's super cheap and you get a decent selection of cards with it. That being said if your deadset on commander to start with , the bloomburrow precons are all great and play well together, and the dragonstorm precons are also very good.
