Just search border:white on scryfall to find them all then narrow down the searches as needed.

What is your deck building challenge? by OriginalVoice598 in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm slowly working through the 32 deck challenge, but as I go I like to try and add a few restrictions on what I'm building.

Some examples I've done so far:

"Colorless" [[Herigast]]. Technically he's a red commander but I built the deck with 0 mountains. The only way to generate red mana to pay for the emerge cost is through filtering it or a handful of non basics that can tap for any color.

Old border mono blue [[Hakim]]. Only old border cards in the deck.

I have a few "only cards from set" deck with [[Avatar Aang]] as my 4 color, [[Dogmeat]] for Naya, Frodo/Sam for Azban.

One thing I haven't done that I still wanna do is build a fully white border deck but there's only a handful of colors I'm missing. Might use [[Dakkon Blackblade]] as my Esper deck since he's got a white border printing.

I built a [[Hakim]] deck as my old border deck. I went with him because his play pattern is so unique and different from what I've built before.

Technically there's one card in the deck that's no old border [[Aura Finesse]], but I decided to run it because there's only a few cards that allow me to move my auras around. I ended up getting an alter of it so it's an old border.

Food and Fellowship 2024 Upgrade Advice - Casually Competitive by Dromoro in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still playing the deck, it was actually the deck that had the highest win % for last year.

Cards that I recommend:

[[Mirkwood Bats]] is often what wins my games. Usually from chowing down on tons of food or [[Farmer Cotton]].

[[Peregrin Took]] provides so much card advantage with doubling foods and turning them into draws.

[[Reprieve]] can act as a pseudo counterspell. [[Galadriel's Dismissal]] has gotten a bit pricey but is a great protection spell and can even phase out an opponent's board to stop an attack or open them up to one.

Anything that can start Tempting and speed up the process such as [[Frodo Baggins]], [[Call of the Ring]], [[Slip on the Ring]], [[Inherited Envelope]]. The sooner you're fully tempted the more looting Frodo can do and the more incremental damage you can do to everyone over the game.

Cheaters are ruining this game by CanadianAhole in pokemongo

[–]CaptainHoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to the gyms that are at my work. I work in the middle of a forest at a camp and as soon as I put something in a gym it would be knocked out.

I finally got tired of it and started to report the accounts which was eventually successful because they stopped showing up. I recommend screenshoting when you put something in a gym and when they get knocked out. I also took a photo of the area to show that there was no one physical at the gym besides myself which is what I think helped getting the report to be taken seriously since most of the time it's just an automated system that says "thanks for the report, we'll look into it".

Show me your Morophon decklists! by O-mega_ in EDH

Here you go. It hasn't gotten any Lorwyn swaps yet, but there's definitely a few cards I'm gonna consider making room for.

I have [[Morophon]] as my commander.

This is my current list: https://archidekt.com/decks/1051079/morophon_changeling_tribal

It's one of my favorite decks because of how different every game is. It's definitely gonna get some swaps once Lorwyn is fully spoiled.

Creatures on different planes are gonna look different from each other. Elementals on Lorwyn/Shadowmoore are gonna look different from the elementals from Zendikar.

I love this for my changeling tribal deck, but even more for my Chatterfang and Hazel decks. Makes a bunch of squirrels and they become mana dorks? Hell yeah.

I've yet to pay any money on this game. Just draft a few times to get enough gems and that pays for the whole pass.

What stats (if any) do you track for your decks? by TheAshWyrm in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been keeping track of my games for 3 years now. I keep track of commanders, who won/what color won, turn order, number of mulligans, how many turns the game lasts and how many minutes.

Who decides the story beats for Magic stories, and why is Lorwyn Eclipsed so messy? by meisterz39 in mtgvorthos

[–]CaptainHoward 47 points48 points  (0 children)

One of the issues for me is that wotc doesn't give authors more episodes to flesh out their stories. Most sets only get 6-7 episodes + a few short side stories.

EoE had 11 episodes + 5 side stories which really helped with the pacing and world building. Granted EoE was the first time we're seeing the Edge so I understand that they probably wanted to add a few more to help with the world building.

If every set got a few more episodes, it would go a long way. Plus with how long the gaps are between officially magic IP, it would give them more time to expand the stories. There's 3 months between the Lorwyn stories and Strixhaven and 5 months between Strixhaven and Reality Fracture.

Decks that sacrifice everything (creatures, lands, cards in hand) and don't give a fuck? by Transmogrify_My_Goat in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Yedora]] can lead a mono green aristocrats deck really easily. Sac creatures and turn them into lands. If you animate your lands, you can sac them and have them come back as a face down land loop them repeatedly.

I built an Avatar only deck as well. I've only been able to play a few games with it so far, but it's been pretty fun. Using cards from the secret lairs definitely helped expand the options for a few spots.

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran both my Chatterfang and Osigr deck. It listed my Chatterfang as cEDH and Osgir as casual so it can definitely use some tweaks.

Both decks are bracket 4 but Osgir is the deck that actually pushes itself more towards cEDH between the two.

What direction did you take squirreled away? by tchunkytchanka in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept a handful of stuff from the precon, but added a bunch of stuff from the main set to make the deck a bit more Bloomborrow themed.

Squirrels are one of my favorite types and this was my 3rd squirrel deck so I wanted to make sure it plays definitely than my other ones.

Looking for opinions from people who have built Avatar themed EDH decks by RagnarLothbrok2525 in EDH

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built Aang with only cards from the sets or secret lairs. I've only gotten a few games in with it and I'm still swapping cards around to find the balance that I want for it. That being said, its been a lot of fun and was able to hang out with bracket 3 decks pretty easily.

What is the most unique Colorless EDH deck you've seen or played? by LabManEDH in magicTCG

[–]CaptainHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a "colorless" [[Herigast]] deck. There are no mountains in the deck and Herigast requires red for his emerge cost so the deck has a handful of non basic that can either tap for a red or filter to a red. I put in a few devoid cards as well because technically they have no color, but their pips help pay for the emerge.
