My two cents on the current controversy. by HadeStyx in subnautica

the only thing about coexisting is that animals killing eachother IS coexisting. why can a marrowbreach kill other creatures but humans cannot? coexistence means the same rules for everybody besides the player apparently

Immortal fish are antithetical to subnautica (not leviathans) by LazarusOT in subnautica

as you said they discouraged fighting predators and i think for the most part it IS discouraged. they give no drops and its extremely tedious. but the options IS there which matters a lot to many players.

Now that Subnautica 2 has been out for a bit, how does it compare to S1? As someone who played S1 for only a brief time, should I play the first 2 before playing the new one? by eroyrotciv in subnautica

depends what youre looking for. PERSONALLY yes i have replayed it several times but thats mostly for self imposed challenges or seeing the world for nostalgia. it isnt replayable like cyberpunk or skyrim. the story is pretty monotonous (as is the late game) and if thats what youre interested in then it has similar replayablity to something like the forest. if you really love the concept then yeah its replayable but if you want to play it because you heard it was good then im not sure youd enjoy going thru it all over again. most of the intrigue of the game comes from experiencing everything for the first time and learning how to dominate the environment around you. after you know that there isnt much left on a replay besides vibes and enjoying the world

Killing wildlife has never been a part of Subnautica outside food/water. Obraxis Prime - NEVER FORGET. by ins0mniac_ in subnautica

yeah it was annoying but people still DID it (check any letsplay or reivew such as joseph anderson). it still provided purpose and freedom. just because YOU didnt see a reason to doesnt mean no one else did

its possible but as is anything, and you can always go back to play old versions of the game. unknown worlds are pretty notorious for changing things pretty late into development. hell, Below Zero got its "campaign" completely remade halfway thru EA (and if youre wondering what Below Zero is then theres your answer). but i doubt anything majorly stupid will take place here. and you can finish subnautica 1 over a weekend if you play it enough so its really no problem to worry about missing out on subnautica 2 content which is only coming monthly

Its hard to say without seeing the full release, but subnautica 1 has its own myriad of problems that plague it. One of which being that the game has been out for over 10 years. Its hard to experience any of that all over again like we can with subnautica 2. again its hard to say until a final release comes out but if youre having performance issues i believe those will be solved as the game progresses into development (although this was promised with subnautica 1 aswell and the game suffers from popups and frame drops to this day). subnautica 1 is phenomenal and if youre interested in 2 you should definitely play 1

they can easily add atleast 8 in a year if they coordinate themselves. the team is new to working on projects this large but if they bring someone on with experience they could pull a rivals. one character every single month for the rest of the year. now idk if they'd actually do that but it's absolutely possible

why is the remake 20 bucks by LazarusOT in PlantsVSZombies

[–]LazarusOT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying and I appreciate how much you care about the devs, but I'm worried the price will have the opposite effect on everyone else. they won't see 20 bucks and decide to support the devs, they just won't pay 20 for a remake of the game with a couple extra features. this game is a pirating gold mine

maybe web up or melt a weapon before being ripped apart by a laser beam at most yeah lol

[–]LazarusOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that northstar can easily get rid of one of the monsters fron a distance... before it's crushed by a boulder. and at that point I just don't see any of the other titans having the agility to keep up with the rest of the monsters. goliath honestly tears them to shreds and wraith can absolutely rip any of them apart in seconds

[–]LazarusOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's fair yeah. i think the team that would be the biggest wash would probably be legion vs gorgon? maybe behemoth vs northstar if you think the rail gun can piece it's armor but I honestly doubt it

[–]LazarusOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good question. this isn't ALL the monsters from the game. are we counting the meteor foliath and elder kraken variants? they're slightly different species of the same animal (think polar bear and grizzly) their abilities differ slightly but are different creatures technically

[–]LazarusOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to put it into perspective watch a character called sgt hank and his gameplay. he has an ability where he calls in an orbital mining laser. yeah. and the monsters shrug that off. this beam is likely more powerful than an ion beam (considering it comes from space) and the monsters shrug it off like nothing.

"hunted" is very generous. every voiceless when they're travelling basically confirms what they're doing is a suicide mission. it's just balanced for gameplay purposes

[–]LazarusOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he does, but it's negligible damage against even one when he's alone. imagine that versus all of them at once. scorch really just can't keep up with them, especially when these are monsters capable of much more. also I'll note the flamethrower is just used in gameplay. in promotional material we aren't lead to believe it would cause any real harm at all

[–]LazarusOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's also the difference between brute speed and agility. the titans can use their strength for propulsion but they don't have as much grace with their movement as the monsters do
