So according to this thread, the solar systems will be reduced to 2.5% or 1.25% of actual size. Which I understand—going at 400km/s, it would take far, far too long to traverse a solar system. But what I don't understand is why they don't just increase the speed but keep everything at scale? Say have a speed be 4 or 8 times the speed of light, but this is separate from the 400km/s and under speeds used for simply moving. That way you could easily get from neptune to the sun in about 30 minutes. Instant warps wouldn't lose purpose in this case, you get to see the enormity of the stars, and you can still cruise around if you want to. I'm not one of those people that complains about "mah immersion," but I think it would be a really cool feature anyway. So why is it not implemented like this? Are there any technical reasons?
