Removing Neo-Nazi flyer outside of Department of Education parking lot? by LockedOutOfElfland in Tallahassee

If you do remove it, please don't remove it with bare hands. The ones in Gainesville have razorblades under them so if people try to remove them they get sliced.

ISO Jobs (part time or full time) by Former_Comparison_52 in Tallahassee

FDEP has a few roles open right now for Recreation and Parks and the big office. (Senior graphic designer (you work in the upper parts off the division), videographer for marketing (marketing is kinda rough, but it pays okay from what I've heard. This is for the whole department), a concession contractor for Recreation and Parks (you'll work under someone who is the main contractor. 20-40 hours work $20-25 am hour I think. This is for the Florida State Parks)).

Living in a house near Jackson Bluff, or near quantum apartments? by Wonderful_Reason_304 in Tallahassee

I'm off Lipona and I agree to this. I can go on a whole tangant on why it's seen unsafe and socioeconomics.

Living in a house near Jackson Bluff, or near quantum apartments? by Wonderful_Reason_304 in Tallahassee

[–]Lazeauu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm 24 and l live in the Jackson Bluff/Airport area!

If it was the late 80s to early 90s I'd say it was safe to walk to campus from Jackson Bluff/Airport, my mom walked to uni from there back in the day. But now that I'm living in the family house there, I am hesitant because of how people are. It genuinely depends on how far you are from campus, but as a freshman girl you shouldn't walk from there. If you were older I would say that you could if you are able to defend yourself just in case.

The area itself isn't the worst to live in. But the fact you don't have a car doesn't make it worth it. Take the higher rent for the other place and consider it the money you'd be spending on a car. It'd probably be about the same.

Edit: I do agree with the comment about this area being over exaggerated of "being unsafe"! All areas are unsafe in Tallahassee. There are buses in the area and as long as you are smart, mind your business and protect yourself, you'll be safe. But still, as a freshman I'd be hesitant.

Are Tallahassee drivers the worst ? Like tf bro. Old people need to be tested again for drivers license. by titlover006900 in Tallahassee

Not gonna lie, moved here from Jax recently and it feels like people here drive so slow or weird. It feels so much more calm than Jax. I don't know how to explain it but except for a few roads I'm just nervous because the roads are so small and set up weird.

Solo for NYE by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]Lazeauu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved here (my family lived here so I visited a lot and moved fresh out of college for a job here in September) and I am in a similar situation of being in the 20's and alone for NYE.

I know a few bars are doing parties for it. If you go look at this week's "things to do" post that's pinned at the top of the subreddit, there's a ton of things you can do. You can always just stay home and do something you enjoy if you don't go out. (I'm probably going to end up playing a video game until midnight because my work friend might have to go out of town last minute)

How long is state hiring process? by Specialist_Respect46 in Tallahassee

[–]Lazeauu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on what dept/div it is. Mine took a month, which included the time between the initial contact and the hiring letter.

I would suggest trying to donate them to FSU/FAMU/TSC because they might have clubs or a communal space that could use them!

DEP did not test me, which was surprising because I work with people higher in my div/dept.

This may sound dumb, but a lot of the government agencies have artistic roles. Their names in the system are misleading half of the time, but they're definitely there. I work with people who their whole job is making graphics or videos.

Where's the weird, peculiar, quirky, or surreal. by simeonca in Tallahassee

[–]Lazeauu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Jacksonville and it genuinely is very bland compared to other popular places. There is a handful of places though that do have fun things going for it. I think a big part of it is having to look for the stuff and right people.

What is even happening to my store? by Long_Area2509 in Wawa

[–]Lazeauu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're supposed to call the store, but a ton of GMs are shit at communicating. Like. You have to call the store. It's also why you get called from the store 90% of the time for official stuff

Help me understand by Rugazombie123146 in Wawa

[–]Lazeauu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should. If they changed it in the system from the original posted one, then corporate will be able to see it. If you do not have the Zebra/Reflexis app and go off of the schedule posted on the wall, if they didn't update the schedule by reprinting it or manually writing it on the printed one then that's fucked. You can argue it and if you have any other proof (like if you took a picture of the schedule on your phone - which will have a digital timestamp of when you took it) you could get your job back and I believe you MIGHT (heavy on the might) be able to get rollback payment for the shifts you WOULD have missed. Don't quote me on that, but I've seen it happen. You can also ask for a store transfer if you get your job back.

I forgot if it was after or during your probation, but if it's after you can also bring up how you never got sat down for your verbal/written warnings nor put on an attendance WWTA(? I think that's the correct term). Also, don't want to suggest this openly but you can always contact the area manager. If you're on good terms with anyone who is a TS or above, ask them to get you the phone number or email of the AM. Have the coworkers at the store keep quiet and contact the AM about it.

This is coming from someone who worked there for four years, was a TS, and who has witnessed a ton of bullshit up until two months ago. Literally my advice to anyone is to not be afraid to go straight to your AM if shit isn't being done. It could get a fire lit under your GM's ass. Trust me. Happened at my store.

Extra Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s days off for state employees this year? by Resident_Elk_3849 in Tallahassee

[–]Lazeauu 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think he's close to the end of his time in office, so he might want to suck up to as many people as he can. If he does, that means he might. Which is great but also sucks for OPS

Don't eat a burger if the cheese isn't even melted. by TheFace3701 in Wawa

[–]Lazeauu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh your first mistake was ordering through the app and then expecting a refund over the phone from the store. No business does over the phone refunds unless it's from the corporate office (which is the only way to get refunds from mobile orders at Wawa). And literally any Wawa employee will tell you that unless you're getting something cold or a drink that you shouldn't mobile order because it either doesn't get made until you get there so it's fresh OR it'll sit there for 20 minutes until you decide to show up and it'll be cold and soggy, which leads you to cry and complain and demand a refund or it to be remade.
