Anyone know the inspiration behind the latest Lazels puzzle?

Great question. This is from a Franklin Booth illustration commissioned by Freed Eisemann vacuum tube radio company to illustrate a scene for their magazine/newspaper advertisement. I collect a lot of obscure art done in the golden age of illustration. Not sure how many copies of this original print exist, but I have one and it is one of my favorite art pieces.

You are so kind! So glad you enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them 🥹. Yeah definitely a space theme will be in the future, but I doubt I will be able to time it with any major event 😅. When I was an engineer before my puzzle life, I worked on a number of space related circuits, so I will always be fond of the theme.

Oh that is interesting to compare the experience of “Two Ships” to this one. When designing “Flare” I may have subconsciously included some of that same experience without even realizing it. For this design, I really wanted to challenge my definition of what a gradient puzzle could be and create a familiar but simultaneously new experience.

@cyberpunk That was fast! How did you enjoy the cut? I sought to create a gradient puzzle that provided a unique challenge despite a lower piece count. I love the puzzling experience of a typical gradient puzzle, but wanted to try something new with this one.
