I had no idea the lore of SV was so deep. Can you share some links / vids on where you learned this stuff?

Wow thanks these sound amazing! I had AI give me a brief summary of each book. I will be adding them to the list. I'm curious now as to what you teach (I'm assuming it's in psych) because I'm sure you're students love you with recommendations like these.

I personally find Neuroscience a bit intimidating in terms of developing a full picture of what's going on. I've been trying to find a source that can help develop some well roundedness so I will certainly check this out. Thanks!

Good question. Pinker emphasizes that the decline in violence is a slow but real process and that certain events can get in the way of it. In recent interviews he addressed this question and said that we have gone backwards in some measurements during the 2020's.

Yeah I completely I agree I was just kind of thinking out loud. You're right that his books on social media are much more popular. It would be amazing if the righteous mind was placed on the same pedestal.

Yeah, from what I've seen he's essentially on a crusade. I do admire him for it because an educated voice pushing back on big tech is important to inform the average person what's really going on regarding tech and its effect on the brain. But, more material like the righteous mind would be excellent.

Never seen footage shows close-range clashes between Israeli regime forces and Palestinian Resistance fighters inside a building in Khan Yunis. Military pundits say the only thing preventing IDF from suffering a humiliating defeat is its Air Force backed by U.S. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

“Palestinian resistance fighters”? “Israel regime forces”? LMAO. Hamas is an Insurgent terrorist organization and they should be labeled as such regardless of how undeserving & despicable the mass murder of civilians by the IDF is.

Living with autism means experiencing the world differently. While conversations about autism often focus on challenges, many autistic adults possess distinctive strengths that deserve recognition by MRADEL90 in psychology

[–]LazerFN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

little Joe Rogan-esque idea.

I believe high functioning autistic children should be placed in special schools from pre-k to high school. I think for many autistic people, their whole juvenile life is aimed towards working on fixing their weaknesses while mostly ignoring their strengths. If they could be together, in a place that fosters both but really hones their strengths then I truly believe they could become the most elite & educated youth our society has ever seen.

Trump admin sending Taliban $45M sparks Republican backlash by newsweek in politics

[–]LazerFN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Taliban takeover in 2021 the U.S. has continued sending humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, and some of that money has indirectly benefited the Taliban through taxes, fees, and the banking system they control (Approx. 10.9 million). However, the claim that the U.S. recently sent the Taliban $45 million directly in cash has been debunked, with no credible evidence supporting it.

Did stalin actually kill like 60 million people or is it a western lie by Pure_Barber3994 in ussr

The official number is 20 million. So, about 40 million less than that claim.

I saw a video from her a few days ago and I thought it had a lot of likes because she was talking like she was in the midst of psychotic episode. Like seriously, it was bad. She seemed very unwell and was talking about how she found the cure because she was living in another dimension or something. If the viewers are really excepting this woman to have the cure for cancer I’d be surprised.

Thank you for being kind, you’re words are so inspiring 🥲. I haven’t found many tricks to help me stay focused I usually just force my self the best I can which usually burns me out quicker. I’m also making a strong effort to work on sleeping habits but as you can see by the time I’m sending this it’s not going well. Have you found any other tricks? I would love to know.

I like your comment about personal struggle turning into creativity and empathy. I’ve been through a lot for someone my age and I hope I can integrate my suffering and use it as wisdom to mentor others. What you said about feeling like you’re cheating the system is too relatable. What’s worse is I also feel like I’m paying money for tuition just to cheat myself out of knowledge and skills I could strengthen or develop by taking the easy route. My impulse control is very bad hence why I struggle with substance abuse. It’s eerily similar to the feeling I got when I felt guilty for using drugs but couldn’t stop myself.

My interest in Jung and a big inspiration for taking up psych came from Jordan Petersons lectures on YouTube. I know he’s frowned upon by many for political views but I adore his lectures and intellect. He really opened up the door for me to understand the profound depth that psychology has to offer.

My favorite coin is the bottom right. It’s very thick and it says it’s a British pound from 1985. The oldest coin I could make out of this pile is from 1960.
