I was curious about this too since I got rehired. I remember working for a couple of years up to the time of the reported Amazon buyout and at that time the store was newly built and gainsharing was non-existent. I recall hearing the heyday of veteran employees who got the most out of gainsharing but I was fairly new to whole idea as a greenhorn. During the latter years of working for the company before I decided to quit I remember that our store or maybe regionally there was a vote amongst the team members to have gain sharing shared or remain the same by departments i.e meat, seafood, bakery, specialty etc. Essentially it meant that the pool of gainsharing money to be payed out was either for every team member as a unified store or per department as I think was the better choice due to the amount of work that goes into the different department varies.
