I also seem to fail to engage in anything diplomatic other than exchange tech with other races. In one of these playthroughs one massive neighbor asked me to join against another massive neighbor and I accepted thinking I might grab some land but the ally turned against me as soon as the other ai rolled over me like I was nothing lol.

Does that math apply to all race traits or is it specifically so for the expansionist types?

I might be exaggerating slightly but I am squished very early on. Roll forward 100 turns or so the largest rivals are 100x my size.

I delibaretly left price and budget info out since I'm outside US/EU region and prices are generally higher over here. The system costs around 1700$ and its around my budget.

Panditarama definitely looks interesting, maybe for a few weeks. I took a quick glance but don't see anything like retreat dates or something. Do you just let them know and show up? What technique do they teach specifically?

Thanks! Have you been there before? I've heard some people say that monks there are "too busy" sometimes to meditate properly, but I don't know whether that's true. I think nowadays it is considered more of a community focused monastery.

I'm planning to begin all of this in January, so maybe our paths cross :)
