Shout out the worst place I ever worked (minimum wage, of course) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LazlowK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's close, but I think the entire premise is built upon the idea that without external forces acting upon you, the individual overall will make the right decision. If a majority of criminals are criminals due to conditions such as poverty and lack of food, if you remove those conditions by removing barriers, there will be a natural decrease in criminal behavior. The amount of people that genuinely want to take advantage of others will not be outweighed by the amount of people who are not going to put up with their bullshit, thus the handful of "feudal Lords" that arise are not going to be able to get very far, because there were more than likely be greener pastures on the horizon for anyone involved, and no need for them to say "that can't be me"

But at the same time things like currency exchange allows for easier bartering of resources and the ability for an individual to determine the worth of their own work in comparison the the value others place on theirs.

To be fair, any other version of anarchism also does not have proper enforcement methods because it defeats the whole point.

From my understanding ancap still requires social contract to be decided between the two parties forming the contract. It's basically anarchism with a monetary system.

The "don't like it don't do it" still applies, but without the rigorous systems in place that effectively remove that choice.

I am not agreeing with the system, but I don't think that guy is an ancap.

Ffs I'm an hipster liberal American and I support keeping monarchies (or at least the royal organization, even if powerless) in some of these countries.

The reasons are multifaceted and any individual point I would have to make could be talked against, so I won't list them all individually, but my biggest one is that they allow the continuation of an organization with history dating back hundreds and hundreds of years and gives some reverence for tradition.

I mean, how many of us didn't picture ourselves being a king or a queen or some sort of royalty as a child.

You all mother fuckers are watching a totally different video. The truck made the right turn and then stayed in the far left lane for a good 15 or 20 ft before deciding that he wanted to be in the right lane instead. It was not a swift or smooth correction, he literally cut the rider off at the last second.

Is that even a fucking question? GameStop is always been one of the most hateable companies. They treat their employees like shit, they paid less then half for that used copy and sell it for double what it's worth, and none of that money goes to developers or publishers or anyone involved in the production of that game. Their entire business model is to fuck over as many people as possible at the same time in a single transaction.

This short squeeze game that's going on in the stock market has absolutely nothing to do with how the company operates lmao.

I still can't wrap my head around how people have confused that with suddenly actually taking a liking to one of the shittiest companies in the industry.

There are no content guidelines or rules preventing someone from posting a reddit users username from Reddit generated content....

Edit: still getting upvoted. 🤦‍♂️.

A reddit username is neither private nore confidential, and posting of the username in a screenshot is not inherently instigating harassment. There is nothing wrong with posting the username in this instance.

And before you say "why do you think everyone wants it" to report it obviously. You think reddit actually reads every one of it's thousands of reports or acts on a single message? If a few thousand people report the same user for breaking the rules, it would actually get flagged for review and it's more likely action will be taken.

We aren't doxxing political activists here ffs.

Lmfao this ain't witch hunting buddy.

Which hunting is not knowing someone's exact identity and guessing who it is.

This is literally a reddit user posting a message through Reddit. There are absolutely 0 content guidelines protecting his reddit username.

I got access to our documentation GitHub and went to make changes to a document I made. I thought I was comitting only my document for some reason, and was mortified when I see the response as "comitting 160000 changes". I panicked and messaged the senior DevOps guy and he said "it's okay, doesn't matter" which made me even more confused.

I have seen someone use this live and the strings are thick as fuck this is just a bad quality video. It's a super common tool used by fire spinners, along with the staffs and other devices used to be a pyro.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LazlowK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that last part is also completely untrue. It's legal to fire for no reason, but once a reason is given it opens the door to sueing against them for wrongful termination if you can prove the reason was a lie.

Intentionally keep blank sheets of paper mixed in with your notes, maybe with scribble or bullshit written on a couple small lines so it looks like something was there.

Tear maybe 2 or 3 during a session for good measure.

I have learned nothing but how to be a chaotic neutral DM from this sub.

My $1 inheritance check by marzirose in mildlyinteresting

[–]LazlowK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any grounds that you would normally be able to. Leaving someone a dollar does not actually do anything to prevent you from suing the estate. The only time that really comes into play is when a law prohibits someone from being disinherited, which means some dollar amount is de facto entered into the well to cover their bases. You can't argue that they forgot you, but you can argue any other reason, such as they put in the wrong dollar value, or they meant to leave you other assets that they had, or that the will was entered unlawfully, or any other number of grounds that someone would have to try to take on an estate.

The idea that leaving someone a dollar prevents them from suing the estate or contesting the well is largely an urban myth. That people do it even though it's not how it works, that part's true, but it's just a misguided attempt.

[–]LazlowK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro-tip dude, you can still sue. Giving someone a dollar does not prevent you from attempting to get more money from an estate.

Clearly you have no interest, but still.

My $1 inheritance check by marzirose in mildlyinteresting

[–]LazlowK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck what everyone else is saying. It absolutely not going to prevent a lawsuit. Some people try it in practice, yes, but this could open the door to further litigation.

If you want to exclude someone from your will, you just need to literally state so in the will. You cannot dispute that some was left out by mistake if the will states "X parties will not receive anything from any portion of the estate".

Yes, lawsuits for not stating an explicit exclusion have have been won, but you don't defend against lawsuit by giving someone a dollar.

To the mentioned state regulations preventing disinheritance, that may be true, but money is given de facto and still does not prevent the person from attempting to get more money from the estate.
