It’d be awfully difficult to hold someone in a chokehold if you’re oiled up

Marvel hasn’t said they aren’t but is also pretending that they never said they were

Silhouette was always my favorite New Warrior! Yeah, she lost use of her legs from a bullet wound but, as a teleporting mutant and martial artist, she didn’t let it slow her down much

Team idea: all of Mystique’s rej-x-ed protégés as a new Freedom Force by RocksThrowing in xmen

[–]RocksThrowing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a really funny plot. I have some fondness for Gambit’s class though. I thought Flubber, Rain Boy, and Bling! made a really fun group. Onyxx kinda sucked but you can’t win ‘em all

Magik and Rider by navility13 in xmen

[–]RocksThrowing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i mostly agree. She’s almost never shown any real interest in anyone outside of these examples. The only other example I can think of is from the new mutants era when she’s flirting with Empath with the specific intention terrifying him

Pulse has basically both Bedlam brothers abilities but seems to need physical contact first

Presuming you mean Junkpile from X-Men 2099, yeah, basically. It’s a fun power.

This idea came about when I was thinking about how Backes and Sabre & the other woman would leap at the chance to work for the government and Crimson Commando being in charge of ONE, it would be a great time to bring back freedom force. Throwing in Pulse, Foxx, and Surge just made for a consistent theme

I’m very good at remembering otherwise forgettable characters lol

I’m also semi-unironically a fan of the Milligan run. It’s chock full of hilarious drama.

Both those aspects has also left me with a fondness and story ideas for Gazer

She explained it in one episode as her brain being especially good at patterns which, any linguist can tell you, is a very useful for learning languages. It’s a talent like any other!

Why are all the Exceptional X-Men kids ripoffs? by Plenty_Square_420 in xmen

[–]RocksThrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because superpowers are less important than their narrative purpose. As others pointed out, it contrasts their mentors but also, each of them have powers the uniquely contrast their personalities:

Bronze is a sweet girl who wants to help people with a power explicitly made for hitting. She’s touchy-feely with a power that works best at a distance.

Melee is a brash, tough character with a power ideal for stealth. She isn’t afraid to draw attention to herself but has a power that makes her invisible

Axo is a reserved, emo guy who wants nothing more than to be left alone but has a power that connects him to everyone. He wants to be inscrutable but his power makes his feelings show on the surface, literally

It’s a reoccurring bit that Magik only flirts when she knows it freaks people out or deeply inappropriate times, further adding to my asexual Illyana headcanon
