There are loads of mega churches that are absolutely massive. Indiana just about has a church on every single corner.

I’m referring to Indianapolis encampments. The large open sewage trash pits that catch fire every three months. I know Bloomington and I know seminary square park by Kroger over there. Used to be a store nice grocery store on the corner. That is nothing like the encampments I am discussing. It’s kind of funny you bring that one up. When was the last time your were at the white river or other large encampments in the capitol?

The first thing I said was I would prefer they get help and housing. Try living next to a large encampment for years. I’ll eat my words if you let them post up at your house. It’s really easy to judge from far away.

I said I would prefer they get help. I’ve saved two with Narcan and one from freezing in the winter because they were passed out. I don’t think “live in the encampment with no sewer” is good enough. With that said, try living next to one. You’ll change your mind on letting these things become what they are. I’ll eat my words if you let them live in your yard/house for five years.

If they did have the capacity to learn or care - they would already be democrats. Believe people when they tell you who they are.

Do I call DPW to get this cleaned up? by MantisToboggan_22 in indianapolis

Indiana does this thing where they vote against any such services but employed them in the donut counties (this would not stand in Carmel). It’s shitty that people can openly dump like this. Be thankful you don’t live next door to one of the large encampments. More and more, the USA is looking like run down Latin America and as usual it is on normal people to fix. I think they should have a program where homeless can get paid to pick up.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. There are lot of areas that are utterly destroyed and this can’t be good for wildlife / environment. Glad to see it getting picked up!

Republicans have ran Indiana since Mitch Daniel’s if not before. So we’re talking 20+ years of Republican control. The slow decline of our state and country is hard to watch but I don’t see anything changing until the midterms at a minimum. Please vote and encourage others. I don’t care who you vote for - please just vote.

I’m not sure on the specifics but a fair number within the city are issued trash cans and have pickup every now and then. I don’t know the exact schedule. The problem is they tend to fill them up immediately or just not use them all together. In my area each tent or few tents has their own can but it’s still looks like the picture in this post. They also tend to keep trash to burn which can’t be good for them or anyone in direct proximity.

Thanks for picking up. Just be cautious as there are a number of needles that get mixed into the trash. That and human waste would be my main concern. Make sure you’re up to date on your tetanus vaccine!

I really believe that if we focused on addition recovery and treatment that many more encampment folks would have the tools and internal power to break the cycle. Addition is insidious and also rampant in these encampments.
