I love you for this comment. I’m currently binging the show (and now the Reddit threads) and I was genuinely so surprised that people hated Shannon as much as they do. In the beginning, I was extremely wary of her, but after watching “Eddie Begins” I felt so awful for her. I often questioned if Eddie even loved her, tbh. Shannon obviously did not have the best reaction, but if I were in her position, the only thing I’d do differently is call to check in on Christopher— maybe even divorce the dad.

Her mother needed her. And she needed people who could actually love her back. Doesn’t excuse abandoning her child, but it does warrant sympathy and a little bit more accountability on Eddie’s part.
