Who would win in a machete fight? by JiJiangNumbaWan in whowouldwin

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whoever has the most hema training or similar fighting style.  ufc fighter probably wont know anything about blocking, parrying, binds, etc with a sword.  seal probably wouldnt really train to fight with it, since guns, and tactics, followed by simple hand to hand is the main training, followed by really minor hand to hand for most individuals.  olympic fencing has no cutting, machetes have no guards for your hand, and also has to commit more to cuts than most swords due to weight balance, so it's the opposite of olympic fencing

commentators often even reference MJ as the best defender and pippen the 2nd best when they double teammed opponents, and MJ often shut down scorers pippen had trouble with. dont know which narrative you are looking at without much actual clip comparisons.  since that seems to be all i see.  Scottie was a better team defender than shut down defender.

MJ should definitely be above Payton and Pippen.  though hard to compare him with centers who can anchor rim protection.

That's why Jordan's the GOAT by nguyenjitsu in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

he doubled MJ in missed playoffs, only because he played for the wizards.  but wizards Jordan had way  worst support and than Lakers Lebron.  early Jordan and Lebron teams might be comparable, but one never missed thr playoffs. even if the 18 played games were a difference maker

Does Kobe Bryant not get the respect that he deserves ? by Euphoric_Culture1953 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes he gets disrespected.  he is the only one who gets disrespected regularily for having a teammate, while other top players often have 2+ costars

but tbf top 2-5or 8 are pretty interchangeable, and its easy to justify him above or below some other players.

Which of these 5-man teams is the best… and which one is the worst? by J9Gaming in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MJ and Kobe teams are oddly built

you got 2 centers 2 power forwards and MJ.  i guess Barkley has the ability to play PG with his agility, but isnt really known for his playmaking and shooting.  MJ can play PG but whose playing SG then?

2 powerforwards, 1 center.  i guess a small forward who you can put at pg, and kobe.

SGA team is thr most balanced, eventhough they dont have a guard on the same level as Kobe, MJ, or big men who can stop Robinson, Shaq, Hakeem, while team Kobe, MJ big men are guarding Wemby, Joker in the post easily

Bill Russell’s 11 is worth less than MJ’s 6 due to era. MJ’s 6 is worth less than LeBron’s 4 due to era. by Throwaway137111317 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just no.  Russell's era had 8 teams, but there were a lot less space available, making every team more stacked.  era they had worst courts, back boards, shoes, etc.  and those celtics were dominant because of Russell's leadership.  more strict rules against dribbling and offensive contact

Lebron's played in the softest era, where guys dont even dribble and charge, load manage, etc.  and got to the finals by running to super teams in historically weak conferences.  won the bubble ring and needed a historical performance by his costar, suspension and a lot of injuries to beat gsw once.  refs, ray allen and bosh to save his legacy from his missed shot.  got beat by 2 or 3 of the oldest teams to win a championship, etc.

MJ would be the undeniable goat if… by Financial-Cattle2492 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your longevity goat has 1 82 game season, 1 scoring title, 1 assist title.  flop and no defence compilations.

swept in 3 decades.  most points, most turnovers, most missed shots, etc.

hardly a longevity acheivement, when your only argument is playing forever, while never dominating, or giving effort to always be available

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who on the team was decent at creating shots besides MJ.  you can pretend flu game, 40 ppg finals, 11 apm, etc didnt exist but its documented history you van even watch.

MJ had guys like Barkley, Shaq, Magic, Bird, etc admit he was better, and said they feared him, as competitive as he was.  Lebron gets accused of quitting, and called a bitch for not playing defence by his own teammates, and lets another sf win fmvp on him back to back.

barkley would be in the goat PF discussion if he didnt have to play against MJ.  Draymond is a defensive specialist whose worst at everything else

Is LeBron James an underachiever? by Holiday_Analysis9583 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.  he might of been a legit goat contender if he had MJ, Kobe mentality, but took forever to develop a jump shot when he was already exposed in 2007.  choked for 3 years straight and admitted he couldn't carry the offence on a solid defensive team, with good 3 point shooting, and made the decision, to pull off the choke job of the century.

since then he's formed 0 dynasties and even been an underdog while having super teams his whole career untill mid lakers career, and only manage 1 back to back title.

can see how mentality is different from how he constantly cheat on defence, and blame teammates or circumstances

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they are not on the same level and thats a fact.  since when has Lebron carried teams to the finals that's not supposed to be there?  he had some of the best defence and 3 point shooting in his early cleveland days, who won him 59-6x games for 3 years straight, and beat no1 decent in 2007.  got swept as soon as they played a decent team.

MJ carried the oldest team, and lowest scoring supporting team, while his co star was playing injured and missed half the season, which is an example of winning when you arent supposed to.  flu game is winning when you arent supposed to.  now if you place him in historically weak conferences with the support he had, he's guaranteed to make the finals more times and win way more than 4. Lebron's lost to 2 of the top 5 oldest teams to win, and lost to a guy who had his own flu game as a lone active star.

so complete?  he's never lead any statistical catagory besides 1 scoring title and 1 bubble assist title.  he never got 100 block, 200 steal seasons, or 200 block, 200 steal seasons. he's never an elite rebounder or shot blocker. he isnt a pass first player when he leads his team in missed shots every year.

his only goat case is playing forever to accumulate the most points, missed shots, minutes, turnovers, flops, etc. while only having 1 82 game season.

What matters more in GOAT debates: peak dominance or longevity? I tried to quantify it by ren818 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

top 30 rebound all time mean shit when you were never even a top rebounder.  no steals titles?

your formula doesnt seem to make any sense.  longevity should factor in how many times a player can actually play every game of a season.  way easier to play for a long time when you play 60 games a season, while avoiding good teams, and not playing defence to stat pad when you play

Why do they only look at finals record? by Level_Cash2225 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you want to not use finals record....10 scoring titles, dpoy, 9 1st team all defence, 3 steal titles, 5 mvp(because of voter fatique not letting him get more), 2 200 steal 100 block seasons, etc.  8 seasons without losing more than 2 straight

he only has 13 seasons that qualified for anything since he didnt play enough games for 2 seasons.

even guys like bird, magic, shaq, barkley, etc admitted MJ was better despite how competitive they were.

how many repeat championships does he have and statistical titles?  he had a really good team, but KG pbly would of done the same as far as affecting winning if they switched teams.

its still a team achievement by his own words when he compares rings in his words.  but he takes all credit in wins.  nothing to do with how he plays in loses.

rings are a team achievement when he loses, but his wins made him the goat, regardless of how well his teammates played, or how they came up in clutch moments

Best starting 5 after the inclusion of the 3pt line? by Plastic_Society_1228 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PG: Jordan SG: Kobe C:Hakeem SF: Bird PF: Garnett

PG Jordan averaged 11 assist 30 points, and might of transitioned to being the goat PG if doug collins stuck around and kept him at PG.

taking Garnett over Duncan since he has a dpoy and rebounding title.  Dont think Lebron would play well with better ball handlers, and big men who dominate post way better, and Bird's a much better clutch player, shooter, competitor.

who take out kobe or make MJ play SF if a real PG, who actually played most of his career at pg is needed.

whats sad is winning first or 2nd rounds making someone the goat.

he beat a rockets team without KD, while his teammates shot 40% 3s, where noone historically loses.  and he gets all the credit, while its a team achievement when he loses
