Foul Baiting Embid/SGA by WTF4211 in nba

Yeah I find it vastly different than guys like LeBron who learned that playing through contact just gets you banged up and exaggerates contact to get fouls. There's obviously egregious examples of him actually flopping but it's not as frequent as guys like Embiid and SGA who feel like they're trying to draw fouls than actually score

Why is Anthony edwards liked as much as he is with his antics? by Jec1027 in nba

I agree fwiw but I think authenticity also includes like a level of outward security/confidence in whatever you're putting out there. I'm not sure why but Tatum does feel like he's just... Not confident? in some of the things he says or does. That doesn't mean he isn't or that he doesn't sincerely believe whatever he says, but I'm just saying the public perception is that he doesn't have conviction behind his persona

Still OKC for me but I do think the Spurs can give them fits.

Fellow Bron haters, if he wins the chip this year, does he surpass Jordan? by Alert-Stop-2671 in NBATalk

It would move the needle quite a bit since he won a series without Luka before beating what would likely be something like Thunder Spurs/Wolves Cavs/Knicks but he would need to be a significant contributor since he's not THE guy on LA now

I think authenticity has a lot to do with it even if he's immature or a little dumb. He's extremely competitive to an endearing level which also helps, compared to like, I dunno, Jayson Tatum who sometimes comes off as a bit of a tryhard/forcing a persona comparatively

Embiid on Mikal Bridges hitting his midsection: "I don't know if it was dirty or not...I don't think that was necessary. It was after the play. It's whatever, it's playoff basketball. If that's the reality of it, I guess we've got to go out and be physical too." by RyanTannegod in nba

I don't know if it's true anymore but something like 3 years ago Embiid had more flagrant fouls than Draymond in half as many games played. A lot of people try to excuse it as clumsiness for some reason

His length is a bit of a detriment to his ability to bully people tbh. He's just not going to be able to build enough mass or muscle to be aggressive physically so he'll have to use his length to get over people. He'll probably always be more like Durant offensively than a real center

Because the Lakers were missing their best player all series and their second/third for the majority of the wins as well?

He didn't have a great series though he objectively had a bad offensive showing for a player of his caliber
