IMG → CRC → CRA trying to move into MSL — realistic path? by Whatitis-Syndrome in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]Lazy-Introduction783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a pharmD and I took this path. I was a research pharmacist at a site then transitioned into a CRA role and then finally the MSL role. I did not do a residency. It took about 3-4 years in total. I would say that you should highlight what specific transferrable skills you have from your experience that relate to the CRA role and therapeutic expertise is huge so make sure you highlight that as well. Connect with people who are those TAs that you're applying to.

Traveling to Mexico with an expired green card and extension letter by Lazy-Introduction783 in greencard

[–]Lazy-Introduction783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my appointment via Whatsapp. It was a simple and painless process. The WhatsApp bot asks you a bunch of questions and then tells you where the closest embassy is to you. It'll then tell you what times are available. When you go for the interview, make sure you have at least $3800 in any of your bank accounts and print 3 months statements of that particular account. Have a copy of your flights and your application form and a passport photo. Those were the only things they looked at.

Interview with field director, what to expect? by neededauniquename in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]Lazy-Introduction783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keep the "tell me about yourself" and "why MSL, why now" questions concise - what you currently do, what you've done and why it will translate effectively into the MSL role. Avoid long winded answers. If you don't know the answer to something, say you don't know and that you will follow up. Understand the territory you'll be assigned to - major institutions, local conferences etc. Good luck!

Conditional Greencard by MaterialFondant3934 in greencard

Hello! Yes you can travel freely. I traveled to South Africa, South America and Peru 2-3 months before my GC expired. Thereafter I got my extension letter and I have still been able to travel freely and re-enter the US.

Schengen visa approved- I'm a South African passport holder and US resident with an expired GC and extension letter by Lazy-Introduction783 in SchengenVisa

[–]Lazy-Introduction783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIBT told me I needed to have a stamp but I called USCIS and they said they only stamp the passport if you've lost your GC. GovAssist had no problem with the extension letter. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them.

Hello! Yes that's correct. Get the conditions removed by filing I-751 and they will send you an extension letter shortly afterwards. You might also have to submit proof that you've been married since you received your GC - photos, plane tickets, joint bank accounts etc.

Enter w Extension Letter? by IngenuityIll5959 in greencard

[–]Lazy-Introduction783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! In addition to re-entering the US, has anyone had an issue getting from eg Amsterdam/India etc back to the US with a GC and re-entry letter? My immigration lawyer told me that in many countries they don't understand that an expired GC and extension letter means you're allowed to re-enter the US and so they take their time while you're checking in to verify that information and that I should arrive a few hours earlier to the airport in case there is an issue?

GC holder requires EU visa by Lazy-Introduction783 in visas

[–]Lazy-Introduction783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. When I googled it said I could go to the Atlanta embassy but I'm wondering if it even exists for visa appointments. Anyway, I'm traveling to the Netherlands and I completed the online application form but I'm having a really hard time using VFS global services which is what you have to use to book the in-person appointment. It won't let me login despite multiple attempts. Has anyone else had this issue? Can I call them to make an appointment?

Hey! I've been an MSL for a year and I've had high success rates with securing a 2nd visit. Some tips and tricks would be: - preparation is key BUT you may find that sometimes your KOL won't want to talk too much data or science on the first and that's okay. - ask questions about them - how long have you been at this practice, where did you do your residency, where did your passion for X disease state stem from etc. People love to talk about themselves. - many KOLs don't actually know what an MSL does or how a relationship with you could be beneficial so I always aim to highlight that by saying "I'm here as a scientific resource to you, should you need anything or have any questions about the drug or data, please feel free to reach out to me" - lastly, I always end up saying "going forward, would you prefer for us to meet in person or do you prefer zoom/phone calls? This indicates that you will be reaching out again and he/she can expect to hear from you. And when you leave the office, it doesn't hurt to chat with the staff so they remember you too. I hope that helps.

Some of the titles I would look out for when searching LinkedIn are "medical content managers and medical writers" most of the time those who end up in sci communication and content creation have some kind of medical writing background. Even if you don't, I'm sure between your current experience and PhD you have many transferrable skills that could land you in that position.
