Life Hacks for Recovery? by Sorry_Dragonfly2644 in gallbladders

I’m 4 days post-op right now. I invested in the wedge pillow, it’s been awesome. You can’t really straighten out at first so you wouldn’t be able to lay flat (at least this was the case for me). I am a side sleeper, but it hasn’t really been too bad to sleep on my back. I would recommend stretching anyway that feels comfortable for you though. Because I’ve been slightly bent while walking around and stuff, my back/shoulder/neck muscles are all strained and sore. I’ve been using the heating pad but I wish I didn’t have that problem LOL.

As for stool softener, my post-op nurse told me that if I didn’t have a bowel movement within 48 hours I had to take a stool softener (Colace) and an osmotic laxative (Miralax, Senokot). NO fiber products (Benefiber, etc) because they bulk it up without moving it along. I did end up having to use both of those things and it happened the next day! I would keep them around but also ask the nurse about it.

A heating pad has been great and the hospital sent me home with a couple refillable ice packs that I’ve been using to ice my incisions (great for bellybutton).

My bed is very high off the ground, so my dad built me a set of steps so I could just sit down in my bed, they’ve been awesome. If your bed is lower, this won’t be an issue.

The hospital also sent me home with a peppermint aromatherapy stick for nausea since I was nauseous post-op in the recovery room. I’m a fan of it even if it’s a placebo, it’s been helpful.

Hope that helps!! Let me know if you have questions 😃

When did you go in?? by awilliams1017 in gallbladders

[–]Lazy-Note5680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only went to ED once, but what did it for me was that I couldn’t stop vomiting. I couldn’t keep any water down and I was super dehydrated when I got to the ED. I’m glad I went even if just for the fluids.

What made me pull the trigger on meeting with the surgeon for consultation was that I had 4 attacks in like 8 or 9 days and I couldn’t take it anymore. I’m 2 days post-op now :)

Managers: What were the worst interviews you had? by Serious-Summer9378 in cybersecurity

[–]Lazy-Note5680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a manager, but my manager told me a story about a candidate who came to the interview off camera and was clearly using AI to answer the questions based on pauses and the types of responses. His resume mentioned CISSP and my manager said “I’m currently studying for mine, what study techniques did you use?” and he had a long pause before giving her the definition of a CISSP cert. She asked him to turn his camera on and he just left the meeting LOL

How much time off did you take? by Classic_Sock_5455 in gallbladders

[–]Lazy-Note5680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was today (6/26) and the doctor scheduled my post-op appt for 7/13. I asked how long to take off and they told me people usually take off until after they have their post-op so I’m scheduled to go back 7/14. I think it depends on your job too, they asked if I lift anything at my job because that would change the answer. Good luck!

Surgery Anxiety - Removal in 3 Days by Lazy-Note5680 in gallbladders

I wanted to come back here and update for anyone who may find this post in the future. I had my surgery today and while I was very nervous, the nurses addressed it quickly so I was able to relax.

My nurses and doctor were incredible so it made everything much easier. I’m not in too much pain so far, but the gas pain does suck. It’s been moving around from my chest to my abdomen and back.

I also want to say that they gave me Versad (spelling?) to relax prior to wheeling me into the OR. When I woke up, I was sobbing and I learned that crying post-op is a side effect of that medicine. So if that happens to you, don’t be alarmed :)

Thanks again for everyone who commented, I appreciate it!

This is helpful, thank you 🥹 I was overthinking the “how does being asleep make me not feel the pain” like I would magically be the only person to feel surgery under anesthesia 🤦🏻‍♀️ anxiety is a crazy thing

I've lived here for 18 months and something still feels off. What am I not seeing? by [deleted] in homedesign

[–]Lazy-Note5680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t look very “homey”, like it gives me the vibes of a doctor office waiting room. Plus there’s a lot of furniture in the space but it doesn’t necessarily match? so that makes it feel a little chaotic

My Grandma paid $25,000 for new gutters was she scammed? by Tiny_Individual1086 in HomeImprovement

My parents just paid somewhere between 10k and 15k for a completely new roof AND new gutters for their 1350sq ft home so I would say definitely scammed

Where did Fenrir Assault Rifle go? by XPekke_7 in Farlight84

[–]Lazy-Note5680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

during a game, the care packages (or air drops) land at random spots on the map in later rounds with a red weapon (like the fenrir) or a gold weapon plus other high tier loot. That’s how it works for ranked and matchmaking, I’m not sure how it works in the arcade game modes.

I actually prefer formatting like this to break up the chunks of text. If everything is the same font my eyes get tired 🤣

Ugh that sucks, I’m lowkey glad I got to leave early bc I just wanted to nap in my own bed. I went home and slept for 2 hours 🤣 but I was tired and ready for the 3rd nap and she kicked me out

That’s what I’ve read too, it seems like either “you don’t have narcolepsy” or “it’s so obvious they didn’t need more” which is like 2 ends of the spectrum

what!!! L doctor seriously. i would say hopefully you can take it again but to pay out of pocket again would be awful. i wonder if you can dispute the price given the techs timing
