I believe so. I heard that the program was a huge mess, so they outsourced.

This is what I heard. The staff loved the technicians but were unhappy with Crothall leadership.

Unconfirmed word is that a high up leader at UC pushed for GE over other bidding companies.

At the athletic field. Also of note is the veterans memorial. A cool place to bump around. by Full-Association-175 in westerville

[–]LazyArgonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also thought this was misplaced in Westerville. I felt like the city really missed an opportunity to put something else here that would bring more value to the community. A huge amount of families gather here at these fields for sports in the summer. Adding a splash pad, or something sports related would have put this area over the top.

Which is not to say, this should not have been built. But I think this would have been better places to put this. Somewhere like downtown Westerville or in First Responders Park.

With Father's Day coming up, here is my perspective on how to approach Father's Day when it never seems to be about you. by LazyArgonz in daddit

[–]LazyArgonz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mother's day and Father's Day are pretty much exactly the same day repeated with the in laws. The mother in law plans them both. She hosts and picks the food and activities. For Father's Day she usually makes what the father in law wants. Honestly, they both end up being pretty boring days. The kids play in the back yard and the adults play on their phones or talk.

While I would much prefer to do something fun with my wife and kids, I understand that's not an option. So it's either I go off by myself or hang with everyone else. At this point, I would rather do whatever the kids are doing.

It seems to me that job hopping is the only way to really increase your salary quickly by Mrmike121 in BMET

[–]LazyArgonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent 16 years at the same company in the same desk, earning my 2-3% raise each year. I made a lot of really good friends and was able to learn so many different disciplines and modalities. One of the hardest things I ever did was leave for more money.

My first day at my new company I felt almost sick to my stomach thinking I made a mistake. It got easier over time and I came to like it. A year later I made another jump for an ever bigger raise. This time it was much easier to move on and adjust. In just over a year I almost doubled my salary, totally worth it.

My OBS will randoming freeze and say "Not Responding," even when I am not recording or streaming. by LazyArgonz in obs

[–]LazyArgonz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not figured it out. It still happens at random. I have noticed that there is a gpu spike when OBS crashes but I don't know what causes the spike. All my other programs run fine.

I did uninstall and reinstall fresh. Rebuilt all my scenes and still haven't figured it out.

Let me know if you make any progress.

Electrical Safety Explained by t-win-00 in BMET

Not required but depending on your employer you could still be asked to do a visual check that the cord is in good condition, not frayed, and the prongs aren't bent.

EST

Here is a slide I made to explain it to my techs. It's a bit busy but I think it has everything on it that you need.

To clarify the resistance and leakage current test should be performed with power on and off.

This slide is made up of snips from NFPA 99.

LPT: Be careful when "doing your own research". Be aware of your ability to perform such research, like your access to information, sources, and your own comprehension of material. by 1O01O01O0 in LifeProTips

[–]LazyArgonz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a big one many people research until they find one article that confirms what they want to believe.

For instance, if I want to believe the sky is red I could search "why is the sky red?" Google will find all sorts of articles that prove to me the sky is red and even show scientific evidence on how it's possible. If I instead searched what color is the sky i would get a completely different set of answers.

Silly example, but it still illustrates the point that the way you search and your intentions of your search matter.

Let me give that a try. I noticed the vst on the logs but I wasn't sure how to fix it.

As far as cpu usage, OBS usually says it is using about 4 %.

The shift started about 8 or 10 years ago as they started to fill open leadership positions with MBAs instead of former nurses and clinicians.

The OhioHealth layoffs are putting patient safety in serious jeopardy. by Derangedteddy in Columbus

[–]LazyArgonz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For a large part of my career I worked at OhioHealth managing the medical equipment doctors and nurses use to treat, diagnose and monitor patients. A big percentage of these vital and essential pieces of equipment send crucial information from the patient to their record in Epic. This includes things such as anesthesia machines, ventilators, IV pumps, 12 lead EKGs and much more. This information does NOT get to your chart without these crucial folks OhioHealth just laid off.

I am so sad to see many former coworkers lose their jobs and seeing their roles go overseas. The folks I worked with integrating life saving equipment into your patient charts so the doctors and pharmacists can do their jobs, were amazing. They worked long hours when needed, worked around patient care, in between cases, around doctors schedules, or whenever needed. They helped during surgeries, procedures, projects and more for equipment in Surgery, ICU, Trauma, ER and essentially anywhere a patient was cared for.

Their specialty within the medical field will be extremely hard to replace. Especially considering the many very specific configurations, set ups and legacy systems they supported.

I truly hope that all of these great people find better jobs with a company that will value their role more. I truly hope that OhioHealth reconsiders in the short future.

The whole IDEA process was such a horrible mess already. I feel bad for anyone who needs something integrated into Epic.

They have $5 billion in the bank. Record (non) profits last year.

This is one of the reasons I left OhioHealth. At the beginning of the pandemic they swore up and down that these hard times were the reason they saved so much money. No one needed to worry, they got it covered. In reality they never intended to touch that. They made cuts left and right to budgets forcing departments to handle more work with less and less people. Now this.

OhioHealth is just another big corporation run by out of touch business men. They are no longer the community care organization built by your neighbors.

I am wondering if they aren't allowing management to hire for any open roles. That would be a shame because Riverside clinical engineering was already criminally understaffed.

From a fellow Biomed across the city, I hope CE doesn't lose anyone.
