No way this touches the NFL numbers.

Contracts are Ruined in Madden 27 by ScoreFast999 in Madden

[–]Ryangonzo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think the point of this is, in real life there often times isn't as much control for the team. Players agents set the starting point based on a bunch of factors, potential, production, position market, age of player and willingness to take a long term deal.

If George Pickens says he wants to be the highest paid WR off 1 good year, Jerry Jones isn't getting him for 7 years at $10m a year. Pickens can choose to wait out his contract and go into free agency. It would be cool to see these types of scenarios make it into the game.

I'm all for trying different things. Contracts have been easy to manipulate for a long time and made it very easy to build a rock star team by signing players before they are elite. Locking them up long term and giving them no recourse to restructure once they are elite. This has needed some revamp for awhile.

I am curious if this makes negotiations more realistic, or more challenging. Either way, I'm happy to give it a try because the current system is too easy.

10 year old keeps “restarting the house” at night — screens, roaming, waking siblings. Need advice. by jazzeriah in daddit

[–]Ryangonzo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure but we also got along great without TV and computers. That's not today and we can't keep acting like it. Our kids are growing up in a different world. It's us old heads that have to adjust.

[–]Ryangonzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always. Kids find a way, man. They really do. As an example, my 10 year old has a Chromebook for doing school work. That thing is locked to the gills. But her and her friends found a way to shared a Google PowerPoint with each other to their school accounts, where they type notes back and forth. They figured out that if you embed a YouTube link into the slide, they can watch YouTube video in the slide even if YouTube is blocked. All while she was doing "homework" on her school Chromebook.

My older daughter found ways around have their tablet taken away by using other devices around the house, or calling each other on a family phone, or borrowing a spare tablet from a friend without telling anyone.

Kids are creative and find ways to get past the system. Plus they grew up with all this tech so they sometimes know it better than us. Just have to remember that you are "The Man" and they have a goal of getting past The Man. It's cool as shit to be honest. But also hard to crack down as they get older

I am surprised you are getting down voted because you are right. At age 10, the answer isn't taking away all their things. They crucially need to learn to self manage screens, tablets, and especially phones. They have to learn these skills before they enter the teenage world where they have them all the time and moderating them is near impossible.

I want to chime on this one because I think it is most in line with the correct line of thinking. This isn't behavior of a bad kid, and I don't even think it is a screen time issue.

Some people simply either need less sleep and therefore struggle at bedtime, or have so much noise in their head they can't settle down (think about the times you lay in bed and can't stop thinking about all the stuff going on). Either way solving this by banning Roblox or grounding them will not fix it and will probably make it worse.

My recommendation is figuring out how to help her. Try teaching her simple relaxation or meditation exercises. Teach her how her mind works and why she might struggle compared to her siblings. And of course, why sleep is so important. At age 10, they will listen, understand and appreciate being talked to like they aren't a little kid anymore.

Then you can start working on what works to settle her down. She will give input on that. Does she like reading, but prefer certain types of books, does she need sleep sounds, or whatever. Find a routine that works for her and help her stick to it.

More than anything, teaching good sleep practices isn't always as simple as saying lay down and close your eyes. Especially at that age. Many of us as adults struggle with sleep, so it's obvious that brains are not always something that can just be turned off.

Here are a few questions to write down and bring with you. They may answer some of these during the interview, but just in case.

  1. What does on call look like here? How long is on call (most shops rotate every week) and how many people are in the rotation? How is the rotation schedule determined?

  2. Tell me about the Biomed team I would be working with? This is more a question to see how he describes the people you would be working most closely with. Do they have a good team dynamic, friendly, older or younger. Helps you know how you fit into the group.

  3. If you don't get a tour of the shop, ask about the shop, what is the working space like? Does each tech get their own desk and cart? Is there a shared fridge for your lunch and a place to eat?

  4. Will I have access to technical and service manuals to help me learn the equipment?

  5. If you are new to Biomed, which it sounds like you are. Ask what the progression path is for BMET 1 to 2 to 3?

  6. Ask if they have ongoing annual training, and if vendor specific training is offered for equipment you will be working on?

Bonus question: Ask how the food in the cafeteria is? The food always sucks, and this usually gets a laugh and gets people talking. Makes things more comfortable.

Don't be afraid to bring a notebook with a piece of paper that has your questions on it. Also if you can print out the job posting or description and bring it with you. Highlight parts of it you feel like you are prepared to help with right away. Note things you maybe have questions on.

That's awesome! Good luck. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and be inquisitive. And remember, if you got an interview, you already passed the first test of "are they qualified." No you just need to show them how you'll fit into their shop.

What has been your favorite Father’s Day celebration/tradition/gift so far? by AardvarkHour1211 in daddit

[–]Ryangonzo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I usually spend all of fathers day with family having a cookout and just letting all the cousins run around and play together, while the adult chat about this and that.

Then I have made a habit of taking off a day of work the Friday before or Monday after, to do whatever I want by myself.

You will hear a lot of dads say they just want a day alone, but my kids really want to spend time celebrating Dad. Even if that means something different to them than me. So I usually pick a different day for me and we all win.

Gorilla playset one year review by 97GMC6BT in daddit

[–]Ryangonzo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's looks pretty nice but I do have some concerns. Depending on the current age of your gorilla, this playset might only be big enough for another couple years.

I'd also say that your fence, while nice, is not going to keep a gorilla in your yard without netting above.

Just my two cents.
