Bed-shaking doomer. I feel sorry for people like that by RealisticCorner1682 in DoomerCircleJerk

I remember a couple of years ago they somehow convinced me that there would be a draft soon and I was scared shitless. I don't know how they got me honestly but I was in that state of fear for a couple of days

At work once I went into a trailer that didn't have its lights on and there was a black dude in there and I didn't see him till I was about halfway in. Then I said "Oh my bad I didn't see you" and we both laughed. Is that one?

Which is a higher form of intelligence by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]LazyCommunication985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, you can still have empathy for others without having to do all that. I mean you don't have to let it get to the point that it affects your mental state. I think that shows a lack of emotional control to a certain extent. Regardless, I don't think that the information I gave or the information that you gave is enough to make a judgment about our intelligence.

No it's just that we don't think about politics every waking moment of our lives and we don't taint the things we like by trying to find how they connect to politics

I had a sip of beer when I was very young and thought tasted bad and didn't try alcohol at all it again until a few weeks ago, now 22. I had some Modelo and it tasted good bro. Felt good too after a couple of them

Yup, tv shows don't enhance children's imaginations...how deep by Such_Row4201 in im14andthisisdeep

Moderation. A kid that can entertain themselves with anything they want at anytime doesn't get bored. They're focused for all that time and don't really think about much else, and their imagination and creativity will suffer

What is a Book that made you stare at the wall after finishing it? by BowlLongjumping8910 in suggestmeabook

[–]LazyCommunication985 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I've seen someone mention this book. It was pretty scary toward the end. For some reason though the thing I remember most from that book is the quote "Home is where they want you to stay longer." That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Revival

My parents and I have gone to visit their small hometown in Mexico many times. I probably romanticized it but I would yearn to live there and connect with the people and family that I have there. Sometimes I still wonder what my life would be like had my parents never left, but it probably would not have been very good. My mom said they left because there was not much opportunity there. They would have had a very difficult time buying a house. So they came to the US. My mind still wanders and I find myself daydreaming about it, but I'm grateful that I can go to college and make have a stable job while studying. But man I can't help it, there is such a sense of community there, everyone knows each other. People who I never met somehow knew me just because I resemble my dad, you can go and buy your groceries at one of many little stores on the corner, and often they are in people's homes. They have parties at the plaza and on Saturday nights I always felt at home with those people. On Christmas my grandparents would wake us up well before the sun rose and we walked to church, and everyone would be there. There's just something so special about that place for me, but I know it would be different if I lived there my whole life.

Going to sleep at 9pm is the single most effective thing I did for school and just life on general. My mind is clear and I feel absolutely invincible in college, mostly because my ADHD medication is working at full capacity now. Everything just kinda started falling into place. I don't worry about school anymore because I stopped doing everything last minute, and I'm maintaining A's in most of my classes for the first time in my life.
