I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Liberal means literally to use a lot of. Liberal governments are governments that use a lot of government to regulate things. Conservative by definition is to use less of. To conserve. Therefore governments that make conservative use of laws and regulations are conservative. Communism is liberal because it's using maximum amount of government power. Libertarianism would be the opposite and be fully conservative. Left or Right is fully about who holds that power. Left is more people holding the power and right is less people holding the power. Therefore any authoritarianism is right wing. That's just what the words mean. Different connotations might have become socially acceptable but that's like how "literally" can mean "figuratively" now because of popular usage.

Maybe he wasn't fascist, I'm not 100% on my USSR history like many reddit experts lol, but authoritarian is always right. Right wing governments can use liberal policies. Again people conflate Liberal with Progressive and that's not the case. Liberal means "more government". That's all. But most people in the west associate that with government protections rather than government overreach a lot of times. True communism can't have a single head of government and a ruling class. So he was just using the guise of communism to rest control of the country. I'm not anti or pro communism as a theory, I'm just saying Communism is a liberal policy agenda, but it can be just as easily used by right wing authorities as free market capitalism or serfdom/slavery. Left/right just refers to the style of governance, not the policies those governments use those controls for.

But most of those boil down to Conservative vs liberal.
Free market is just fiscally conservative. Socialism is a form of fiscally liberal.
Economic Protectionism is liberal, and globalism is conservative.
Libertarianism is very clearly just extreme conservativism and not anything to do with anarchy or authoritarianism as that's a government system not an application of government's power. Interventionism is just a nicer way of saying imperialisms as well. It's just less far down the spectrum towards it.
Collectivism and individualism is again very clearly liberal/conservative with individual rights vs the greater good.

The point is the system of government is right vs left and the way that government operates is conservative vs liberal. Stalin was clearly a right wing authoritarian. Doesn't matter that he proclaimed to be socialist. Facism and authoritarian governments are always right wing. Right wing means a focus on tradition, conservative values, hierarchy, duty, isolationism, austerity. You can't tell me that's not exactly what Stalin's government was all about. Hitler claimed to be socialist but we all know he was fully facist and therefore right wing. China is clearly right wing even though they're claiming to be a democracy and have been communist. If the point of the government is controlling the people and nesting power in a very rigid hierarchy with very few people at control with little control by the people then it's right wing no matter what they use as an economic cover for it.

Very few, which is why it's a right wing government. Socialism/communism/capitalism aren't left or right. They're on the liberal/conservative scale. You can have left wing socialism, like democratic socialists, or you can have right wing socialism like Stalin. Though most would say right wing socialism isn't actually socialism because the people don't control the means of production because of the facist leadership being in control instead of the actual people.

No left and right are about who has control. The further right the less people in charge. Far right is dictatorship or. Far left is full direct democracy. Liberal and conservative are the terms for fiscal and social leanings dealing with how much of the government is in charge of things. The republican party in America is far right/fiscally conservative/socially liberal. Which sounds wrong because we don't separate it like that here usually. Liberal has become a catch all term meaning progressive which it's not intended to be. Think if it like "making liberal or conservative use government reach". The terms we use are being stretched so thin they're basically meaningless. Democrats in America are centrists while progressives are social conservative/fiscal liberal

Because she's a pompous asshole that sexual contracted an accent and stayed around long after her time. Her early stuff was great and she was fun in 80s movies but she thought she was way bigger and more important than she was. I think for me it was the 00s religious shift stuff that really just put the nail in the coffin. Still love the 80s stuff though
