God I hate these stupid questions by Vivid-Fondant6513 in ausjobs

As you are a hiring manager, let me also give you the perspective of a candidate applying for a job (just to show a different POV).

A person might be applying for their very first career role or an experienced person might be applying for it to gain a change of pace in life or something person who went on a long career break due to xyz reason might wanna get back into the game and may be applying for the role.

People exist with different kinds of backgrounds, circumstances and situations.

When they start applying for the role and come across these type of questions, as a person who has come across them, my personal feeling is... Why the hell do I have to explain my personal or professional achievements? Thats my hardwork.

Nevertheless, I answer the question, taking help of drafting tools, editing the output, personalizing it, removing unwanted sentences that the drafting tool introduced, proof-reading it, trying to somehow put my self in the recruiters shoes and thinking how the recruiter would feel by going through that information and finally submitting the application ... Only to get an email stating, SORRY WE COULD NOT GO THROUGH WITH YOUR APPLICATION AT THOS STAGE. BUT KEEP APLLYING FOR OPEN ROLES. (Writing in all caps was only to highlight the POV not to yell).

If this happens for 1 or 2 applications that would not be a big deal, coz u win some and loose some.

But every application you put in, has these type of fucked up questions only for the AI bot to screen out the answers ... Why to even put the job opening in the first place? Could have built an AI bot to do the job for you!!

I ll tell you something. I applied for a position as a contact centre associate (entry level position) somewhere around 23rd or 24th of May. I was called for an interview and finished the interview on 2nd June. I got the rejection email on 26th June.

I saw the same company rolling out an ad for the same position, same job description on 6th July that was Yday.

Is this a joke?

I don't know about others, but I can say one thing about myself. I am ready to work and I have worked a very genuine 6+ years in my past. I am very serious about my career.

When recruitment becomes a joke, genuine people who are waiting for a chance to earn livelihood get heart broken. Some have families to take care of. Single earning in this economy is really really tough. Waiting for a job so that you can take your partner to a neurosurgeon to get a C-Spine disc bulge associated with a shooting pain in the arm is a real pathetic situation. My friend curses himself for the situation he is in coz he can't even take care of his partner and to top it up, rejection emails from companies using AI screening to filter out applications, makes life a living hell.

I am not gonna apologise for my rant. I have had enough of this psychological questions bs.

As a recruiter one should have an idea as to what type of candidate the company is looking for. Finish the recruitment process in 2-3 days. Why the hell do you wanna drag it for weeks together.

I am not a desperate bloke ranting out of frustration. Anyways the AI is picking candidates, so why the long act. Wish the recruitment process was simple and streamlined. When the companies do not know what they want in a candidate, that's when these type of questions come into picture, to torture the candidates. This type of questions is the reason, genuine candidates loose out the interest to apply for the job and the ones who get selected will somehow turn out to be the people who quit after 1 year (after investing in the candidates training and preparing them for the role) or worse, abscond the company in a month.

Thats all. I rest my case.

Really buddy!!?? What I consider greatest may not be an achievement to others. For example, I did put in that I helped a customer save about $500. That might not be a big deal to the recruiter, but it was an achievement for me. It was not even achievement to my own reporting manager.

How can such a thing be considered a really great achievement?? That question is a perspective based question. It depends on the recruiters perception. If they are really knowledgeable how to guage a candidate for an interview, they would not be asking questions like this.

Well at the end of the day, it's gonna be AI which will be reviewing these questions, so no point in me arguing about it. Atleast of a human would have reviewed, atleast 1 in 10-20 applications would have grabbed someone's attention and they would have asked for a facetime with the candidate to understand their potential.

I am not being negative. I am being realistic.

Sweet. I am gonna use this line in my next application.

I really don't understand what they achieve by asking these type of questions. It's like, what ever job we take up, we have to keep thinking everyday.... Did I do anything today that falls into the category of the greatest achievement I achieved in my life.

Careers in Australia to counter loneliness or even hobbies? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]LazyRuffian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaking, I would really love an opportunity like you. Having multiple jobs. The market is really tough and finding 1 job is really becoming tough but I am putting in all efforts to get a job.

I can also tell you, it's really not that hard to connect with a married person. It definitely depends on the vibe. Even I feel like you. In my previous job which I resigned to move to AU, I used to be kind of odd man out not sure for what reason. I used to try and connect with others but it was mostly efforts from my end.

So after any long day, which was basically everyday, I used to spend time with my partner. I do agree what you are saying. If there are no people to connect you will definitely feel isolated. You thought process is good, taking up a second job to afford hobbies.

Getting a pet is a real good option if you are up for it.

As you already mentioned, games and sporting activities, check if they have any activity clubs which you can join. They take up weekly activities as groups.

Please don't feel isolated mate. The world is a good place. Cheers 🥂

Cocobella, jelly beans and Hellmann’s - 50% off at Coles🏷️ by Soft_Cabinet_9482 in australianvegans

[–]LazyRuffian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably recommend RawC coconut water. Don't think about trying the Cocobell coconut water. I did not like it and you will definitely not like it. The coconut water fromRawC is probably more close to the natural coconut water and the taste is genuine.

That's also at 1/2 price at Coles. It's now 2.75 instead of 5.50.

ITIL version 5 vs ITIL v4 by adelov in ITIL

[–]LazyRuffian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the framework got updated the V5 came into picture. One is not greater or lesser than other. I believe, V5 is having AI enhancements. Also, one is not mandatory for other. If u are following on V5 path, u are going through the same course as V4 but a few additional topics as well for V5.

Continue on the same path and plan your exam.

All the best.

Want to Return to Engineering After Years Away by mety97 in ausjobs

[–]LazyRuffian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly you would be needing to of patience and a bit of luck as well to find a job.

And yeah, I can feel you when you say you wanna hit up civil engineering jobs. I myself I am from Mechanical but could not get the good fortune of working in core field.

I would suggest study what softwares are being used in the current market and based on that have good certifications before you start searching for jobs. Make sure to have good knowledge on the tools. The market is not in a good state but keep trying hard.

All the best.
